On January 15, ATEEZ leader HONGJOONG released a new single titled “SMB” with American rapper ODETARI.

After revealing a collaboration with CHUNGHA on “Eenie meenie“, HONGJOONG crossed borders with American rapper ODETARI on the track “SMB“. A rap and electro track that sparked the interest of K-pop fans following the connection of HONGJOONG’s verse to the controversy surrounding HYBE president BANG SI-HYUK. On October 24, 2025, it was revealed that HYBE had investigated artists from other agencies, including ATEEZ, summarizing the latter with inappropriate comments.
In this single, HONGJOONG‘s lyrics are: “Should I be mad? Not at all fun. Act like your age, you punk. Just childish fun. Why are you mad? Do you think you have made it, hitman? If you have time to observe others, then watch your own back instead. Du-du-du, bang“
The lyrics “hitman” and “bang” that caused the most reaction are those reminiscent of BANG SI-HYUK‘s songwriter name. A parallel that caused many reactions from domestic and international fans on social networks.
Following fans speculations, KQ ENTERTAINMENT, ATEEZ and HONGJOONG‘s label, responded that it had “nothing to declare“.
Finally, ATEEZ, of which HONGJOONG is the leader, will begin its European tour “TOWARDS THE LIGHT: WILL TO POWER” on January 18 at the LDLC Arena in Lyon.
