The singer CHUU gives us some confidences on her last album.
«ONLY CRY IN THE RAIN» is the third mini-album by the artist who specially invited journalists to a private listening session at a small neighborhood cinema. Accompanied by a MC, it is an opportunity for an hour to exchange with her about her music, her clips and her musical identity.
She begins by declaring that the two key words of this comeback are «memory» and «emotion», expressing the feelings felt on a rainy day, which one does not necessarily express on sunny days. This new album is therefore an opportunity for the young woman to show her emotions, in her sweet and delicate voice, with five tracks: «Only cry in the rain», «Back in town», «Kiss a kitty», «Je t’aime» and «No more».
The listening session begins with the broadcast of a VCR to present the singer who imposes herself as a weather presenter in the video, expressing that the rain is coming soon, and that the emotions will intensify over the next days. The second title focuses more on a first love, while “Kiss a kitty” deals with a “virus” that makes the world dance, using a pun that turned Korea last year: “a cat walks on the frozen Han River”, which went viral on SNS.
«No more» is a song that highlights the feeling of heartbreak after a breakup, and the desire not to relive it again. Thus, the VCR presenting the artist’s songs ends, leaving room for CHUU to greet the press.

Ten months since her last comeback, the singer is delighted to come back on stage and meet the fans who expressed their delight in the teasers previously published. However, she goes back to the concept of the album, highlighting more the plurality of emotions that songs can make you feel, whether in real life or in the world of dreams. She expresses herself with an open heart, the songs are dear to her. Despite the fact that important memories may eventually disappear from our memory, emotions and feelings persist.
The highlight of the album is subsequently broadcast, representing the singer experiencing various emotions, as tears, claiming «cause I only cry in the rain», so that the tears mix with raindrops. «Back in town» puts forward CHUU lying on a sofa, surrounded by popcorn, on a funky and pop sound. «Kiss a kitty» presents a cat with various filters and animations surrounding it, highlighted by the artist’s rap. «Je t’aime» presents her with firecrackers and sparks, which one would burn in the evening with his loved ones. Finally, “No more” shows the singer playing stone-paper-scissors with his friends.
She then encourages journalists to listen to the album again on its release, highlighting how much she appreciates all the songs that compose it. «Only cry in the rain», the title song, is perhaps a symbol of sadness, but it allows us to experience the power of emotions within us, especially when we are alone facing our memories. She points out that the first time she heard the instrumental version, she wanted it to become the main song of this album.
Today is the first time that she offers a private session with journalists, a more private context than during showcases, and she can not hide her stress, and recounts several times when she speaks. The MC reassures her, telling her that by remaining natural she will succeed brilliantly in answering during this session. CHUU takes the opportunity to briefly introduce the choreography, including a moment when she shakes her hands to represent tears.

She also sings the chorus, filling the small cinema room with her crystal clear voice. She also recommends “Back in town” which is the other song that she has long considered as the main title of this album. Today, warm and sunny day, seems to be suitable for listening also «Kiss a kitty», song where she also tried for the first time to rap. It is therefore a «challenge» song for her, hoping that the fans will appreciate this risk-taking.
She says she always thought that her high-pitched voice was not suitable for rapping, and despite the lack of self-confidence, she wanted to take on this challenge to prove that she could try out other styles. Then approaching the shooting of the clip “Only cry in the rain”, she hopes to have been able to prove that she was also able to convey emotions, especially since the clip was shot on film to give it a more cinematic aspect, like a drama.
Becoming an actress is one of her projects, appearing in a drama in the autumn. As an actor, it’s an opportunity to become different people, to have different lives, and the shooting of the MV allowed her to see if she had a way in that area, and she says she was satisfied with the result. Although this is her third mini-album only, it is therefore full of challenges taken up by the singer.
If she had the opportunity, she would like to try musicals in the future, so that she can give her loved ones love through songs and acting. Comedies would be an opportunity to mix the two sides. The journalists then rush to ask questions, focusing first on the concepts of her previous albums, being energetic, and cute. Rather than giving a reason for this plurality of style, she says she focuses on the type of messages she wants to give her fans and the emotions she feels every day when preparing and recording.
CHUU also admits that she writes diaries from time to time, with introspection and memories important to her, as well as taking photos or videos so she never forgets what has made an impact in her life. Thus, she is very involved in the synopses of the MV that she shoots, so that it corresponds to her vision of the album. The emotions she has felt throughout her life are not necessarily simple things to convey by word, and therefore always preferred to talk and share what she had in her through song and music.
The songs of this album, and previous ones, are primarily intended for her fans and relatives. Although she is very bright on stage, she admits that she sometimes has a little more sad moments, but she manages to be happy every day by doing hobbies that are close to her heart, or that she gets distracted by watching many dramas. CHUU continues by assigning the sky blue color to the album, because she likes to look at the sky, its changes of colors, especially when the rain passes and that the clouds give way to a beautiful blue sky. The varieties of blue that the sky offers are therefore a way to represent each song, adding that it is also one of her favorite colors.
Her albums all have as a link the emotion, expressed with the help of different prisms, being each time dear and faithful to the person that she is. A journalist connects the singer with two other well-known American artists: ARIANA GRANDE and SABRINA CARPENTER, who offer songs with similar but varied styles, as what CHUU seems to want to achieve. ARIANA GRANDE is also one of her models in the music industry, continuing on the musical styles she loves like R&B, but emphasizing the fact that she listens to everything, according to her moods.

«Je t’aime» is a song that often sticks in her head, representing different forms of love, encouraging people to confess so they do not have regrets in the future. Sometimes you don’t have to say much, just “I love you”. Rather than focusing on the difficulties of expression, staying simple and natural is often the key.
Ever since she was in college, she kept diaries that she read again from time to time, including the day she auditioned to become a singer, when she wondered if one day she would debut, and if so, what kind of person she would become. Rereading her pages makes her aware of the singer she has become, as well as the moments she spent in her former group LOONA. Although she is now alone on stage, she is still very much surrounded, because she has her relatives, her fans, and the agency by her side to support her.
If she had a goal to achieve with this new album, it would be to make her music known to more people, while continuing to share moments with her fans on different occasions, hoping to have many opportunities during this period of promotion, so that the fans can also create new memories by her side.
