PARK JIN YOUNG
PARK JIN YOUNG reveals that he followed an extreme diet for a shirtless scene.

Recently, PARK JIN YOUNG, the actor from the movie “HIGH FIVE”, gave interviews at a café in Palpan-dong, Seoul.
“HIGH FIVE” is a comedic action film that tells the story of five people who acquire superpowers through organ transplants, only to face others who seek to exploit their abilities. PARK JIN YOUNG plays the role of Yeong Chun, a Christian cult leader who gains the ability to absorb youth after a pancreas transplant.
In the film, Yeong Chun, although gravely ill to the point of being in a comatose state, rejuvenates thanks to his superpowers and develops a muscular physique, even showing a large “王” (king) symbol on his stomach. Through a shirtless scene, PARK JIN YOUNG highlights his character’s transformation by showcasing his sculpted body.
He said:
“I was hungry. It was the first time I had ever done such an extreme diet.”
He added, “There was a reference in the script saying that my character had animal-like strength. I wanted the audience to feel that power by looking at my body.” Furthermore, he clarified:
“I ate chicken breast, cherry tomatoes, and sweet potatoes for two and a half months. Since it was important to see how it appeared on screen, I focused more on testing my body in front of a mirror and with a camera, instead of regularly weighing myself.”
Once the shirtless scene was finished, PARK JIN YOUNG said he “ate right away.” He laughed and added, “But it gave me indigestion. I was told I should have eaten porridge instead.”
“HIGH FIVE” was released on May 30th and topped the box office.
