Melon has launched a special event for fans supporting their favorite artists.

Melon, the music platform by Kakao Entertainment, is hosting an event tied to a “Melon Magazine” feature covering the history of the so-called “Roof Kick” songs on the HOT100 chart. Through this event, fans can show support for their favorite artist and have a chance to win the trending snack of the moment: the “Melon Kick.”
To participate, fans simply need to leave a supportive message in the comments section of the magazine article. Entry is automatic, and 50 winners will be randomly selected to receive four packs each of Nongshim’s new snack, the “Melon Kick.” The event runs until June 25, with winners announced on June 30.
The term “Roof Kick” (지붕킥) is an honorary label given to songs that were released less than 100 days ago and ranked in the top 5 of Melon’s HOT100 chart, while surpassing a certain real-time streaming threshold. “Getting a Roof Kick” has become a common phrase to describe this explosive success.
In 2025 as well, many songs have delivered a musical “kick” like the sweet “Melon Kick” snack, continuing the “Roof Kick” trend. The digital single “오늘만 I LOVE YOU” by BOYNEXTDOOR was the first track of the year to earn this status right after its release on January 6. “Rebel heart”, a pre-release track from IVE’s third mini-album “IVE EMPATHY”, maintained its “Roof Kick” status for a month and a half, from late January to early March.
PLAVE made a major impact by having every song from their third mini-album “CALIGO Pt.1” qualify as a “Roof Kick.” G-DRAGON also made waves with “Übermensch”, his first solo album in eight years, its title track “Too bad (feat. Anderson .Paak)” held onto “Roof Kick” status for over two months following its February 25 release. The song “너에게 닿기를” by 10CM, a remake of the original anime soundtrack 15 years after its debut, gained so much popularity that it too became a “Roof Kick” phenomenon.
Other songs to earn the title include “모르시나요 (PROD. 로코베리)” by Jo JjaeZ, “like JENNIE” by JENNIE, “천국보다 아름다운” by LIM YOUNG WOONG, and “굿데이 2025”, a special music project inspired by G-DRAGON’s wish to harness the power of music for good.
The “Melon Kick” snack, offered as part of this event, is a new product in Nongshim’s “Kick” series, launched 47 years after their iconic “Banana Kick” which debuted in 1978. Since its release in April, it has sold 3.5 million packs in just five weeks, becoming a runaway success.
