TRIPLES - XINYU
Member XINYU of the group TRIPLES is at the center of an ongoing controversy after her comments in support of the “One China” principle.

Recently, on the fan communication platform Fromm, XINYU stated:
“Macao has always belonged to China. It’s the same for Hong Kong and Taiwan.”
These remarks align with the official stance of the Chinese government, which maintains that mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao are an indivisible entity and recognizes the People’s Republic of China as the only legitimate government.
When some fans criticized her statements and urged her to be cautious, XINYU responded:
“Are you worried I’ll get in trouble? Did I say something wrong? If you don’t agree, you can unsubscribe from my Fromm,”
fanning the flames of the controversy even further.
Her comments, now circulating across several online communities, have fueled debate for several days. Many fans in South Korea have denounced her statements and criticized her dismissive tone, particularly her suggestion that dissenters boycott her platform.
The backlash is especially intense because TRIPLES is a multinational group of 24 members: 17 Korean, 4 Japanese, 1 Taiwanese-Vietnamese dual national, 1 Chinese, and 1 Thai. The presence of a Taiwanese national makes these remarks particularly sensitive.
For context, XINYU appeared on Mnet’s “Girls Planet 999” in 2021 and officially debuted as a member of TRIPLES in 2023.
