The cover video of “Golden”, a song from the “KPOP DEMON HUNTERS” original soundtrack, sung by KWON SOON IL, the soulful vocalist of URBAN ZAKAPA, has surpassed 2.5 million views, generating an extraordinary response.

“KPOP DEMON HUNTERS” is a Netflix original animated film centered around K-pop. It tells the story of K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, who, when they’re not filling stadiums with their concerts, live double lives using their secret powers to protect fans from supernatural threats.
In this 47-second video, KWON SOON IL covers “Golden,” a track from the “KPOP DEMON HUNTERS” soundtrack known for its extremely high vocal range that’s notoriously difficult to sing. He performs it naturally in a feminine key, even nailing the “dolphin voice” high notes in the song’s upper register.
Actress Arden Cho, who voices the character Rumi, reacted to the video with the comment: “I’m speechless. This is incredible!!!!! Rumi?!?!? Thank you!!!!!!”
JO HYUN AH (also a member of URBAN ZAKAPA) jokingly commented: “How do you even sing like that?” To which KWON SOON IL replied: “I don’t know… but I did it…”, sparking laughter among fans online.
Through his agency, KWON SOON IL humbly shared:
“Since I was 9 years old, I’ve been deeply influenced by Mariah Carey’s music. That’s why singing in a feminine register has always come naturally to me. I sang this cover of ‘Golden’ the way I normally do, so I really didn’t expect to receive this much attention and love. I’m truly grateful.”
URBAN ZAKAPA is currently working on a new album set to be released in the second half of the year, along with a series of concerts. They’re also scheduled to perform at the Sound Planet Festival 2025, which celebrates the 30th anniversary of Rolling Hall, taking place on September 13 and 14 at Paradise City Incheon, with URBAN ZAKAPA performing on the 13th.
