The new boy group NOWZ (Hyeonbin, Yoon, Yeonwoo, Jinhyuk, Siyun) from Cube Entertainment is entering its third artistic transformation with its new album.
The performance video for the track “Problem child (문제아),” from its first mini-album “IGNITION”, released on July 18, is generating growing interest. With explosive choreography and a massive performance led by a mega crew of 50 dancers, NOWZ reveals a striking new facet of its identity.
“Problem child (문제아)” carries a strong message: breaking free from imposed boundaries, rejecting standards dictated by others, and accepting oneself as they are. The song is built on a rhythmic foundation composed of kicks, snares, and tight hi-hats, accompanied by a catchy and impactful chorus. True to its raw atmosphere, this track was one of the most difficult to record, according to the members of NOWZ.
NOWZ explains:
“It’s a song that demanded wild and raw energy. It couldn’t have an artificial sound but needed genuine instinctive power. There were many powerful parts to scream, rasped singing sections… The song was so difficult that we couldn’t even laugh before recording.”
After being previewed during its fan showcase, “Problem child (문제아)” received numerous performance requests from fans. The audience’s enthusiasm that day was reignited by the release of the performance video. The choreography, created in collaboration with the famous dance crew We Dem Boyz, fits perfectly with the song and elevates the group’s performance to a “high-end” level.
NOWZ adds:
“The chorus of ‘Problem child’ is both powerful and playful, with pronounced facial expressions and gestures that reflect each member’s personality. Since the track is very energetic, we wanted the chemistry between the music and choreography to be at the heart of our performance.”
This new album showcases the group’s musical eclecticism: following the release of the preliminary single “Fly to the youth (자유롭게 날아)” produced by Yuqi (from I-DLE), NOWZ takes on the rock challenge with the title track “Everglow,” and captivates with the impactful performance of “Problem child (문제아).”
NOWZ will continue promoting their first mini-album “IGNITION” this week through music shows and various content.
