The musical film “Back! Stage,” starring YUNHO of ATEEZ in the lead role and shot entirely on an iPhone 16 Pro, opens for presale today, August 8.

“Back! Stage” is a music-centered coming-of-age film about youth, growth, and self-discovery. The story follows Giseok, the main character, who is suddenly asked to step in on stage by the very band that rejected him two years ago. The true heart of the story unfolds backstage. YUNHO, a member of the globally successful group ATEEZ, plays Giseok—marking his big-screen acting debut.
Ahead of the release, YUNHO shared his thoughts through the film’s production team:
“I’m both excited and nervous to be making my film debut with ‘Back! Stage.’ I still vividly remember the moment I first met the character Giseok and the filming process. It’s emotional to think that the release is just around the corner. I hope the audience will enjoy the film. Please join us in experiencing the youth and energy it holds, and thank you in advance for your support.”
This project features the musical direction of the Lovely Runner music director, who skillfully conveyed the emotions of young musicians through a rich and heartfelt original soundtrack. The film was produced by Kim Jin Woo and Lee Yong Soo, who have been behind major Korean film hits like Seoul Spring, Harbin, and Handsome Guys.
On release day, a special screening and actor meet-and-greet will take place at CGV Yongsan I’Park Mall, where attendees will receive a limited-edition poster signed by YUNHO along with a personal thank-you message—while supplies last.
Ahead of the film’s release, the original soundtrack performed by YUNHO will be unveiled exclusively on Apple Music on August 14 at 6 PM KST.
Running 22 minutes long, “Back! Stage” is a compelling youth musical that pulls viewers in from the very first moment. Fully planned, produced, and overseen by CJ ENM, from screenplay to soundtrack—this music snack movie offers a unique cinematic experience blending musicality and emotion.
Finally, “Back! Stage” is scheduled for release on August 18 and will be screened in 19 CGV theaters nationwide. Tickets can be reserved via the CGV mobile app or on the official CGV website
