CHA EUN WOO
CHA EUN WOO (28, real name Lee Dong Min) has been appointed as a “section leader recruit” at the military training center. Just two weeks after enlisting, he was recognized for his leadership, sense of responsibility, and diligence.
On August 13, the official website of the Nonsan Army Training Center in Chungnam Province published a photo of CHA EUN WOO in the “Recruit Sketch” section. He is seen wearing a perfectly pressed military uniform and a neat beret, with a blue armband on his left shoulder. His sharp gaze and strict posture immediately draw attention.
The “section leader recruit” serves as a representative of the recruits and is responsible for tasks such as roll call, leading commands, and maintaining order in the dormitories. This position is awarded based on an overall evaluation that includes physical fitness, sense of responsibility, clarity in giving commands, daily conduct, and interpersonal skills. In some training centers, the role can come with extra leave or other benefits.
Several accounts of his military life have appeared on online communities. One cook shared: “I saw him doing the dishes, and he was working really hard. Even with a shaved head, he’s so handsome I couldn’t help but look away.” Another recruit recounted a funny yet touching story: “Since everyone kept staring, an instructor said, ‘Don’t look at him. He’s just a person.’”
ASTRO member YOON SANHA shared updates on August 4 via a fan communication platform: “On Saturday, EUN WOO wrote in the group chat, ‘MJ, how did you survive? Save me.’ He’s physically fit, but it’s not easy. Still, he’s adjusting well.”
CHA EUN WOO enlisted at the Nonsan Army Training Center in Chungnam on July 28. After completing basic military training, he will serve in the Army Band. His scheduled discharge date is January 27, 2027. Before enlisting, he promised his fans: “I’m curious and excited to see what my thirties will be like. I’ll come back in top shape.” During his military service, the Netflix series “The wonderfools” and the release of his new album are planned.
