Ahead of its visit to Korea, British band OASIS found themselves once again at the center of controversy after posting a video featuring an image of the Rising Sun flag.

On August 8, OASIS’s official social media account shared a video with the message: “Check out the brand new visualizer for ‘Morning Glory’! Watch the visualizer in full via the link in bio.”
The video shows animated reinterpretations of illustrations related to the 1995 song “Morning glory.” The problem is that the Japanese military flag (Rising Sun) appears in the video. This flag, used by Japan during World War II, symbolizes Japanese militarism and is considered one of the war criminals’ flags.
Korean netizens saw this and expressed outrage in the comments on social media. So far, OASIS has left the post up without taking any action.
On July 1, member LIAM GALLAGHER had already sparked controversy related to “racism” by tweeting the word “Chingchong.” This term, used to mock Chinese accents, is widely regarded in the West as one of the most racist slurs targeting all Asians.
When a fan told him, “You shouldn’t use that word,” LIAM GALLAGHER replied, “So what?” showing a dismissive attitude.
However, faced with growing backlash, LIAM GALLAGHER eventually deleted the post and said, “If anyone was hurt by my words, I apologize. That was not my intention. I don’t discriminate against anyone.”
Meanwhile, OASIS, the band LIAM GALLAGHER belongs to, will perform in Korea on October 21 at the Goyang Sports Complex. They will then continue their tour in Japan on October 25 and 26 at the Tokyo Dome.
