Global Kpop star JENNIE is at the forefront of spreading Korean culture worldwide by introducing a Korean typeface that blends the traditional aesthetics of Hangul with modern sensibilities.

On October 9, OA ENTERTAINMENT (ODDATELIER), JENNIE’s agency, officially announced on its website and social media the launch of the Korean typeface “ZEN SERIF”. Unveiled on Hangul Day, this project was designed to allow as many people as possible to use the Korean alphabet in a practical yet visually appealing way.
This project is particularly noteworthy because it results from a collaboration between OA ENTERTAINMENT and global tech giant Meta. For the first time ever, a Korean typeface has been officially integrated into Instagram’s short video editing app, “Edits”, marking a historic milestone.
“ZEN SERIF” stands out by combining the elegance of traditional Korean characters with the sophistication of modern serif fonts. Designed to balance readability and visual beauty, it is expected to be widely used in various content creation environments.
Since October 9, all users of the “Edits” app worldwide can freely use the “ZEN SERIF” typeface. This integration is a symbolic moment: Hangul is now more accessible than ever on a global platform, giving creators around the world the ability to design content featuring Korean writing.
JENNIE’s project represents a new model of Kpop artist contributing to the global spread of Korean culture. By directly participating in a cultural initiative that highlights the beauty of Hangul, JENNIE demonstrates the growing influence of Korean artists on the international stage.
An industry representative stated:
“The integration of the “ZEN SERIF” typeface on a global platform will allow users worldwide to become more familiar with Hangul. It is a tangible example of K-culture’s expansion, now present not only in music and dramas but also in design and typography.”
The harmony between tradition and modernity conveyed by Korean writing is set to shine worldwide through JENNIE’s “ZEN SERIF” typeface.
