The variety show on Coupang Play, “JUST MAKEUP”, released episodes 4 and 5 simultaneously on October 10 (Friday) at 8 p.m. KST.
“JUST MAKEUP” is a massive makeup competition where artists representing global K-beauty face off with their unique styles. In these new episodes, the intensity and scale of the challenges increase, making the battle for the top even fiercer.
In episode 4, the 30 participants who advanced from the first round receive their second-round missions and continue the competition. The second challenge is a “1:1 death match mirror battle” where one participant is eliminated per duel. Fifteen themes are offered, including Rock Chic, Drag, K-pop, Fusion Orientalism, Glam Grunge, and more. Host LEE HYORI randomly selects an artist to choose a theme, then another participant can challenge that choice. Each duel features identical twins as models, allowing both artists to interpret the same theme in their own way.
The most anticipated theme, “Red horse”, pits a Parisian master against a glitter magician. The first presents a horse-riding general in red style, while the second embodies a victory deity on the battlefield, impressing the judges. Other duels explore Fusion Orientalism, Sports Photoshoot, Rock Chic, 90’s High Teen, Futurism, and Glam Grunge, showcasing the detail and techniques unique to each artist.
Episode 5 opens with the results of the Glam Grunge duel and continues with confrontations on Barbie & Pop of Color, Bohemian, Natural, Glitter Party, Flapper Look, K-pop, and Drag. Participants must complete both makeup and full styling within a limited time. This pressure heightens rivalry, yet they also admire their competitors’ work, creating a dynamic of respect and unity. By the end of the second round, the 15 qualified participants are announced, with further qualifications promising to keep viewers on edge.
