Every year, music fans eagerly await the MMA, and this year, ahead of the main ceremony, several preliminary events have been organized.

The first MMA2025 event, titled “최애 포인트 교환소” (Favorite Artist Point Exchange), is already drawing strong participation from K-pop fans.
The music platform Melon of Kakao Entertainment announced that this event, which allows fans to highlight the appeal of their favorite artists, will run until October 31, ahead of “The 17th Melon Music Awards (MMA2025)”, scheduled for December 20 (Saturday) at Seoul Gocheok Sky Dome.
During the “최애 포인트 교환소” event, the top three artists with the most points will receive a prestigious promotion opportunity, with wide exposure of their award across online and offline platforms.
To participate via the Melon mobile app or website, users select their favorite artist, enter their “enthusiasm points” (입덕 포인트), and click “적립하기” (Accumulate). They then capture the screen and share it on social media with the designated hashtags, then post the screenshot on the event page to validate participation.
Paid members can participate three times per day, while free members can participate once per day. Each participation grants 10 points both to the participant and to the selected artist. Artists leading at the end of the event will receive special rewards: the first-place artist will be featured on billboards in Seoul and via KakaoTalk banners, while the top three artists will receive promotion on Melon’s main app banner and official social media.
In addition, Melon will hold a lottery offering 100 invitations to attend MMA2025 in person (one ticket per person), with winners announced on November 10.
Since October 1, the event has already generated over 6 million points thanks to fan participation, becoming a major topic among K-pop fans. Artists competing for the top 5 include IM YOUNG WOONG, G-DRAGON, and the boy groups PLAVE, RIIZE, and BOYNEXTDOOR, with a very tight competition. The various “enthusiasm points” collected by fans also provide a fun insight for artists and fans alike.
For the first time in MMA history, an event will also be held in Tokyo. The pop-up “MARUI × MMA EXHIBITION”, in partnership with Melon and the Japanese group Marui, will run from October 17 to 26 at the Modi Shopping Center in Shibuya. The exhibition will trace the history of the MMA and past winning artists, giving visitors the impression of being at the ceremony in Japan.
A Melon representative stated: “As MMA2025 approaches, we have prepared this event so that fans’ enthusiasm for their favorite artists transforms into enjoyment, along with the chance to attend the ceremony in person. Additionally, Melon will continue to offer various events for all music fans leading up to MMA2025, and we hope for wide interest in these activities.”
