NCT 127 - TAEIL
The appeal of TAEIL, former member of NCT, accused of aggravated rape, has been rejected.

On October 17, the 11th Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court (presiding judge: Park Young Joo, judges Park Jae Woo and Jeong Moon Kyung) upheld the original sentence: TAEIL was sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison for aggravated rape under the Sexual Crime Punishment Act. His two accomplices were also sentenced to 3 years and 6 months each.
In addition, the court ordered participation in a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program and banned TAEIL from any professional activity for 5 years in institutions related to children, adolescents, or people with disabilities.
The court did not accept the defendant’s argument that his confession should be considered a mitigating circumstance.
The incident occurred on June 13 of the previous year, around 4 a.m.: TAEIL, intoxicated, allegedly sexually assaulted a Chinese tourist, Miss A, who was unable to defend herself, in collusion with two acquaintances.
Initially tried while free, TAEIL had been sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison in the first trial on July 1 and was placed under arrest. The court had emphasized that “the victim, unable to defend herself due to alcohol, was successively abused, which constitutes particular severity of the act,” and that there was a flight risk justifying imprisonment. Both the defendant and the prosecutor had appealed the sentence.
Debuting in 2016 with NCT U and active as the main vocalist of NCT 127, TAEIL left NCT in October 2024 and terminated his contract with SM ENTERTAINMENT following this case.
