Singer SOYOU claimed to have been the victim of racial discrimination on a flight from the United States to Korea, while a passenger who traveled on the same flight provided a conflicting account, stating that she was “heavily intoxicated.”

On October 19, SOYOU posted on her social media:
“After my schedule in New York, I boarded the flight to Korea via Atlanta. I was so tired that I just asked a Korean flight attendant to check the meal time, but the cabin manager judged my behavior and treated me like a problematic passenger, suddenly calling security.”
She added:
“If I was the problem, I would have accepted getting off the plane. But I had to endure cold looks and attitudes throughout the flight. At that moment, I wondered, ‘Is this racism?’ For over 15 hours of flight, I couldn’t eat anything. It deeply hurt me because of racial prejudice.”
The ticket SOYOU posted shows that the airline was DELTA AIRLINES.

However, an internet user claiming to have been on the same flight commented online:
“SOYOU was completely drunk and refused to eat because she was tired. I heard the staff say that one shouldn’t board while intoxicated. Claiming afterward that you’re a victim of injustice or racism isn’t fair. As a Korean and a fan, I was embarrassed, and it was awkward for the crew members.”
As of now, it has not been confirmed whether SOYOU safely arrived in Korea or if she was actually intoxicated. Her agency stated that they are “verifying the facts.” Since the statements from the passenger and the witness conflict, airline and crew records will need to be examined to determine the truth.
