BAE173 - DOHA
The member DOHA of the group BAE173 has initiated legal proceedings with his agency POCKETDOL STUDIO, following NAM DOHYUN.
On November 6, according to an investigation by The Fact, DOHA recently filed against POCKETDOL STUDIO a lawsuit seeking nullification of the exclusive contract and a request for a provisional suspension of the contract. The reasons cited by DOHA include payment issues, the financial deterioration of the agency, unilateral suspension of his activities, and a breach of trust.
In his complaint, DOHA’s team claims that the agency “violated its obligation to provide financial statements,” “violated its obligation to provide supporting documents related to income and expenses,” and “fraudulently recorded expenses supposedly incurred when they were not actually incurred.”
Furthermore, DOHA asserts that the agency suspended his activities without his consent. During a meeting on September 15, the agency allegedly stated “then you are excluded,” unilaterally removing him from activities, and on September 23, a message on the fan café announced, without his agreement, the suspension of his activities for “health reasons.” DOHA’s team also highlights accumulated debts and the financial deterioration of the agency.
On September 30, DOHA sent POCKETDOL STUDIO a notice of warning and termination, but after no response from the agency by October 15, he issued a termination notice on October 17, followed on October 22 by filing the request for nullification of the contract and provisional suspension. The first hearing for the injunction is scheduled for November 17.
Previously, NAM DOHYUN, a former member of BAE173, had won a similar case against POCKETDOL STUDIO in 2023. Since then, BAE173 continued activities as eight members, until JAEMIN participated in the JTBC audition program, “Project 7“, and joined the group CLOSE YOUR EYES, bringing BAE173 back to seven members.
In September, POCKETDOL STUDIO announced that DOHA was suspending activities for health reasons. On October 14, BAE173, now six members, released their first studio album “NEW CHAPTER : DESEAR“, with the lead single “Turned up“, and continued promotions.
A former child actor since 2009, DOHA debuted as a singer with BAE173 in November 2020. He also contributed to compositions on BAE173’s albums and the associated group FANTASY BOYZ, including the song “Flare“, demonstrating his skills in various areas. However, he has been absent from activities since September.
