Former ADOR director MIN HEE JIN has made a second statement since the group NEWJEANS announced its “return to ADOR.”
On November 15, lawyer Noh Young Hee released on a live stream on her YouTube channel Noh Young Hee TV a statement from the former director. According to it, MIN HEE JIN explained: “NEWJEANS only exists as five. From the beginning, I built the project around the five. The appearance, the voice, the colors, the style, the staging, everything was designed based on the five. That is why people were excited, and that is how a single form was completed.”
These remarks are interpreted as her response to the distinct behaviors recently adopted by two members on one side and three on the other during the group’s comeback process. The first two reached an agreement with ADOR and followed the official procedure to release their position through the agency. In contrast, the other three unilaterally announced their intention to “return” immediately afterward, without finalizing their position with ADOR.
MIN HEE JIN added: “Now that they are back, these five must be treated with the greatest care. Controversies or unnecessary interpretations do no good. Ultimately, the matter targets me, but the girls should not be drawn into this process. They must be protected, not used.”
Additionally, NEWJEANS had stated last November that “the trust relationship was broken” and announced the termination of their exclusive contract, while ADOR filed a lawsuit to confirm its validity. After nearly a year of conflict, the court ruled on the 30th of last month that “the exclusive contract signed on April 21, 2022, between ADOR and NEWJEANS is valid.” The five members waived their right to appeal.
