The singer KIM HO JOONG was confused with the broadcaster KIM EOJUN by National Defense agents during martial law on December 3 and 12 last year.

Former National Defense commander YEO INHYEONG testified on November 24 before the 25ᵉ Criminal Division of the Seoul Central Court, during the trial for rebellion of former president YOON SUK YEOL, that the agents had confused KIM EOJUN with KIM HO JOONG on the list of people to arrest.
Former commander YEO INHYEONG is facing trial before the military court for having formed an arrest group on the orders of former Defense Minister KIM YONGHYUN, concerning about ten personalities, including the Democratic Party leader LEE JAEMYUNG and the former People Power Party leader HAN DONGHOON, to arrest and detain during martial law.
During his questioning by the lawyers, the former commander stated: “On the list, there is KIM EOJUN”, and added: “But until the afternoon of December 4, our agents thought that KIM EOJUN was the singer KIM HO JOONG”.
He continued: “While reading the list, we were asking ourselves ‘Who is this person?’, so we carefully consulted the Internet. Again, until the afternoon of December 4, we thought it was KIM HO JOONG. The list… speaking of the list, it was actually so negligent.”
These statements are interpreted as supporting former president YOON’s defense argument, according to which the arrest list lacked reliability and does not constitute a concrete plan to execute a rebellion.
The court will hear YEO INHYEONG again on November 27 to continue his questioning.
