XG is set to open a new chapter before the release of its first studio album by redefining the meaning of its group name.
On January 12, XG announced via its official SNS that the acronym meaning of its group name had been changed from “Xtraordinary Girls” to “Xtraordinary Genes.”
This decision was made considering that all members have now reached the age of 20 as a turning point. At debut, XG carried the meaning of “Xtraordinary Girls,” delivering bold music and performances free from conventions. By promoting a message aimed at empowering individuals from diverse backgrounds and environments worldwide, they established a unique presence on the global stage.
In the new “Xtraordinary Genes” highlighted by XG, are contained the “CORE” within each member, creativity, as well as the spirit and determination to embrace change and create new cultures. The shift from “Girls,” the starting point, to “Genes,” the essential source, is a declaration that XG is turning a new page.
Following this change in the meaning of its name, XG will release its first studio album “THE CORE – 核” on January 23. This full album is a work comparable to a statement containing the deepest essence of XG. Additionally, XG confirmed the launch of its second world tour, “XG WORLD TOUR: THE CORE”, starting in February.
After a dazzling 2025 marked by the Coachella stage, entry into the Tokyo Dome via the world tour, and global chart achievements, attention is focused on the steps XG will take in 2026 with the start of their first studio album and world tour.
Moreover, the first studio album of XG will include a total of ten tracks, including the pre-singles “Gala”, “4 seasons”, as well as “Xignal (The intro)”, “Rock the boat”, “Take my breath”, “No good”, “Hypnotize”, “Up now”, “O.R.B (Obviously reads bro)”, and “PS118”.
