AMPERS&ONE
Step into the heart of the ’90s with AMPERS&ONE! Between a romantic grandfather, an energetic grandmother, and slightly clumsy grandsons, the group celebrates Lunar New Year with sharp humor.
For Seollal 2026, the members of AMPERS&ONE slipped into the roles of a typical Korean family from the 1990s. In this special video, the group revisits New Year traditions with a modern twist and plenty of self-mockery. Between tears of laughter and moments of tenderness, the “grandchildren” had to prove their worth to their elders, portrayed by the members themselves in hilariously crafted roles.
One of the funniest moments was the arrival of BRIAN, the “Canadian” grandson, whose Korean manners are still a bit shaky. As he informally addresses his grandparents, he is immediately corrected:
“Hey, that’s informal speech! Haven’t you learned how to use formal language yet?”
Later, BRIAN commits the ultimate cultural faux pas by bowing twice during the traditional greeting (sebae): “No, no! We still have plenty of life left!” exclaims the grandfather, reminding that two bows are normally reserved for the deceased.
The day continued with a “Kimjang” (kimchi-making) workshop, where the members got hands-on under the strict supervision of “Grandmother.” The atmosphere was electric, especially during the tasting of bossam (boiled pork) and fresh kimchi. The protective grandfather stole the spotlight by guarding his wife’s sleeves: “Grandfather is so cool!” the grandsons exclaimed. The highlight of the show was the grandfather’s romantic message to his partner:
“Thank you for being by my side for 73 years. This year, please complain a little less and show me a little more love.”
The celebration ended with a lively game of Yutnori, where the losing team had to improvise a talent performance. Between impromptu ballroom dances and bursts of laughter, the group concluded by wishing the best to their fans: “I hope you also spend precious moments with your family. Happy New Year to all!”
With this perfect blend of tradition and comedy, AMPERS&ONE reminds us that the greatest gift of Seollal is the shared laughter with those we love.
