An emotional rollercoaster where hope wavers in the face of the uncertainty of illness.

As the year was starting under good auspices, artist DABIT saw his daily life suddenly turn upside down during the Lunar New Year festivities. In his latest vlog titled “Lunar New Year Crisis”, he shares with disarming vulnerability the medical emergency of his dog Kano, aged 10. What initially seemed to be age-related pain turned into a real nightmare when examinations revealed a large mass on his companion’s spleen. Lost in the anxiety of diagnoses, DABIT confides his distress in the face of this situation he cannot control:
“I don’t even know what I’m hoping for at this point… this isn’t how I expected to start my year.”
The story becomes heartbreaking when the doctors confirm the presence of three tumors, including one of an impressive size. Between total exhaustion and guilt, DABIT expresses a deep loneliness, recalling the central place that Kano occupies in his life. Faced with the imminence of a risky operation, he delivers a poignant testimony about the unfairness of life:
“If Kano leaves me, I really have no one left… he is literally the last family I have.”
The sight of his dog, still lively despite the illness, makes the waiting all the more unbearable, pushing him to question every moment spent by his side.
After a successful surgical operation, the suspense remains intact for long days, hanging on the biopsy results. Relief only comes at the end of the wait, when the verdict finally arrives: the tumor is not cancerous. The accumulated tension then bursts into pure and incredulous joy. “I’m shaking right now… it’s not cancer, Kano is completely fine”, he exclaims, tears in his eyes, closing this painful chapter on a note of rebirth.

An ordeal that reminds us of the fragility of our most precious bonds and the immense strength we draw from the love for our four-legged companions.
