The global girl group KATSEYE will publish its new “Pinky up” on April 9 at 12 p.m. (Eastern Time).
This track is a song that further expands the musical universe that KATSEYE has built so far. The agency presented that they will suggest a new direction for pop based on a confident and joyful energy.
The single’s cover image published simultaneously also draws attention. The sensual composition showing a cup of tea placed on a rug, a cat model and a part of a character in the frame sparks curiosity. Added to this is the typography of “Pinky up” expressed in an intense pink color, announcing the sensitivity both kitsch and sophisticated unique to KATSEYE.
In the Shorts video uploaded to the official Instagram of KATSEYE, one can feel the vibe of the new song. A claw machine filled with cute dolls appears, and the machine grabs a sword that was hidden among the dolls. The text “Pinky up” engraved on the sword’s blade is shown in close-up, making one wait for the special charm of KATSEYE navigating between adorability and sharpness.
With this the girls also revealed the promotional calendar for the release of “Pinky up”.
KATSEYE gained explosive popularity by successively entering its previous works “Gabriela”, “Internet girl” and “Gnarly” into the main “HOT 100” songs chart of BILLBOARD in the United States. The top rankings of these three songs on the “HOT 100” are also of high level with 21st place (“Gabriela”), 29th place (“Internet girl”) and 82nd place (“Gnarly”).
In the most recent ranking (as of April 4), KATSEYE also shows a constant presence. Their second EP album “BEAUTIFUL CHAOS” is ranked 85th on the “BILLBOARD 200”, marking its 39th consecutive week of presence in the ranking. KATSEYE is a group formed via the audition project based on the “K-pop methodology”, “THE DEBUT: DREAM ACADEMY”.
