The Korean small screen is preparing to welcome a musical revolution where evolution replaces elimination.
The ENA channel has struck a great blow by revealing the first images of its new flagship program, “THE SCOUT: STARS REBORN”. Unlike classic survival formats, this show focuses on the growth and metamorphosis of 16 talents, called “muses”, under the wing of legendary mentors. The main visual highlights an exceptional “MASTER GROUP” composed of veteran singer LEE SEUNG CHUL, global icon KIM JAE JOONG, the talented WENDY of the group RED VELVET, multi-instrumentist YOUNG K of the group DAY6 and the famous athlete CHOO SUNG HOON.
Among the participants, or “muses”, whose portraits were revealed in the form of polaroid photos on the official website THESCOUT.KR, we find faces familiar to K-Pop fans. In addition to YANG TAE SEON (former member of TRCNG), KIM YEON KYU (ATBO), CHO YOON CHAN (PATZ), PARK JUN SUNG (UNDERCOVER), KWON EUI BIN (BUILD UP), CHOI HA RAM (BUILD UP) and LEE JIN (BUILD UP under the name of NEON), other names complete this promising list. We notably discover CHA SOL BIN, JIN HYEON JUN, CHO YONG HWAN, LEE JE BIN, KIM DONG WON, LEE SAN, PARK MIN SEOK, KIM YUN SU and KIM YU SIN. Each candidate seems ready to undergo a radical transformation to become “the real deal”.
The originality of “THE SCOUT” lies in its promise: “There is only selection, no elimination”. The masters will have the role of detecting the hidden potential of each muse and guiding them through stages of relooking and artistic improvement. The official website specifies that the program aims to transform these already talented artists into stars capable of conquering the international market. CHOO SUNG HOON has moreover expressed his wish to see these talents shine on the world’s biggest stages, while WENDY insisted on the necessity of a dramatic change to mark spirits.
