FUNKY STUDIO and POCKETDOL STUDIO have expressed their official position regarding the exclusive contract of YU JUN WON with a new agency.
On June 4, FUNKY STUDIO stated:
“During the trial, the court suggested twice a return to the agency and an amicable agreement in consideration of the future activities and the future of YU JUN WON, but YU JUN WON maintained his existing position by requesting a decision on the amount of compensation without expressing the intention to return. While the final judgment is expected next July, we express our deep regrets regarding the conclusion of a contract with a new agency, the unilateral revelation of activity plans, and the distribution of related press releases, and we will respond firmly.”
In addition, it emphasized: “Deciding on a new agency and proceeding with associated activities when the final judgment has not been rendered constitutes a total disregard for the business morality of the industry and the contractual order”, and “This is a matter that should have been treated with great caution, given the legal procedures currently underway and the contractual order of the industry.”
FUNKY STUDIO explained: “Due to the unilateral departure of YU JUN WON, considerable disruptions occurred in all activities and business plans of FANTASY BOYS”, adding: “The members who were preparing for the debut and activities together, as well as the production team and stakeholders who worked for a long time for the project, were also severely impacted. Our company is fully aware of the tangible and intangible damages that occurred during this process.”
It continued: “After the end of the show, FANTASY BOYS proved their strong market value and growth potential by holding a fan meeting of a scale of approximately 10,000 people in Japan”, and “However, after the departure of YU JUN WON, major disruptions occurred in the group’s activities and associated business plans, and consequently, the scale of the activities initially promoted was also considerably reduced.”
It also stated: “Separately from the lawsuit for damages worth approximately 3 billion won currently claimed, we plan to examine legal measures for additional damages that will be confirmed in the future”, and “Given that the side of YU JUN WON shows no intention of agreement or return, we request the court to quickly render its final decision on this matter.”
Finally, it emphasized: “The K-pop industry has developed on the basis of trust and responsibility toward contracts”, and “Acts of negligence toward contractual relationships must not be repeated, and an environment where the order and principles of the industry are respected must be established.”
