HYOLYN shared confidences about her new album.

On July 11, her agency ReH Entertainment released an interview video on its official channels for HYOLYN’s fourth mini-album “ORIGINALYN,” which will be released on July 22 at 6 p.m. KST. In this video, close friends of HYOLYN participated as interviewers, bringing out various stories not only about her new album, but also about her daily life and music.
HYOLYN first explained about the album name “ORIGINALYN”: “I would like it to be an album that can show the most original and essential side of singer HYOLYN. That’s why the word ‘Original’ came to mind, and I thought it would be really good to combine it with my name ‘Lyn.’”
Regarding the title song “Check,” she shared: ““Check” is first and foremost a story that I address to myself. It’s a story that I tell myself, but I worked on it with the hope that it could give strength to many people who, like me, need confidence and assurance.”
She pointed to open-toed heels as the element she could not give up despite a high-intensity performance. HYOLYN explained: “While listening to this music, I thought that I had to wear shoes that would bring out this feeling. What made the task the most difficult for me, but that I absolutely could not give up, were the open-toed heels,” increasing the anticipation for the stage.
In addition, when asked to describe this album in a single word, she showed her confidence by stating: “Finally, HYOLYN is here.” Then, regarding the concept of the new album, she presented it by saying: “I listened again to songs I used to listen to when I was a trainee, and the music I listened to back then was so good. I wanted to bring out the nostalgia of that time” and “It’s a Y2K pop concept, 2026 version.” Concerning the key point of the choreography for the title song “Check,” she revealed a part of it by stating: “Just like the song’s title, there are a lot of checking gestures.”
Witty questions prepared by those close to her also followed. To the questions “What do you usually think about in life?” and “Why do you do a lot of back choreography?”, HYOLYN provoked laughter by answering honestly: “I want to have fun” and “I have a bit of confidence in my back.” To this was added a surprise spoiler revealing that she is preparing a new song suitable for winter, increasing anticipation for her future activities.
At the end of the video, a question from former volleyball player Kim Yeon Koung was also revealed. When Kim Yeon Koung asked “What is the meaning of music to you?”, HYOLYN expressed her affection for music by replying: “Music is like air to me.”
Finally, HYOLYN conveyed her sincerity to the fans by stating: “Since I don’t always have much to offer my fans, my heart always ached and I felt uncomfortable, but I am happy to be able to offer a gift with this album” and “As these are songs containing my story, I hope you will listen while interpreting well my messages embedded in these songs.”
HYOLYN‘s 4th mini-album “ORIGINALYN” is a title that combines “Original” and her name “Lyn,” and is an album that contains HYOLYN‘s own music and identity. The title song “Check” is a track that embodies a confident attitude and performance, and HYOLYN plans to present a 2026 version of Y2K pop sensibility through this album.
HYOLYN will release “ORIGINALYN” on July 22 at 6 p.m. KST via various music sites and will embark on active promotions.
