Today, July 4th 2017, singer LEE HYORI has decided to comeback under the spotlights.
The singer appeared in front of the reporters at her press conference, at the University of Konkuk in Seoul. LEE HYORI, rather radiant and calm, then submitted to the introduction of her new album, “Black“, and to the questions of the journalists, who came in mass.
LEE HYORI is back after 4 years of absence, with her new album “Black“. This album was produced by the singer herself, who moved to the island of Jeju, where she was able to draw all her inspiration. She collaborated with Kim Do Hyun, who wrote the lyrics of 9 songs out of 10 and composed 8 of the 10 titles present in this new opus.
This new album, with varied influences, will make you travel in the different musical styles the artist likes: ballad, hiphop, soul and even electro. Featuring several collaborations with rappers Killagramz, Los and Absint, this new and 6th album is a bit LEE HYORI‘s own history and feelings.

Following the throwback on this change of life and the presentation of her album, the singer explained where each of the titles that composes this 6th album came from.
The title “Seoul” found its inspiration at the time when the singer left Seoul, to exile to Jeju. Seoul had became a city too noisy and filled with political problems, so the singer fled, not without a pinch in the heart, hence the fact of the sadness of this song.
For the main title, “Black“, the singer made a bet. This song has a dark side and a dominant color, black. LEE HYORI wanted to see if she could express this dark side, which is also part of herself and if people would adhere to this change.
About the track “Unknown“, which is a song lighter than the others, LEE HYORI reveals:
“In this track I wanted to give the chance to young artists who have talent and who are not necessarily put forward. I wanted to help them by giving them a chance. But in the end it was them who gave me a lot.”
The title “Rain down” is a song to warm people’s hearts when listening to it. LEE HYORI drew her inspiration from the political problems that took place last year in Korea.
“The Koreans were depressed while facing all these problems, I wanted to try and give them hope, like when the rain comes in the dry season.”
For the song “Beautiful“, LEE HYORI talks to herself (to those who listen to her). She writes a kind of letter to reflect on her beauty’s issue. When she was in her early days, the singer was not aware of her beauty, and people kept repeating it to her, many times.
The singer then answered to several questions from the journalists. She revealed she was wondering if she still had fans who were going to come cheer up on her, on television shows.
Many questions about the artist’s change of music styles have been asked, to which LEE HYORI answers that she thinks each artist has several sides and to whom it belongs to express them. Indeed, this album changes from the rhythmic songs she used to make. She describes it as a transitional album.
Speaking of other female idols, solo or group, she first expresses the fact that there is not necessarily any competition between them, because each artist has its own color and therefore its own fans. For young artists, she hopes they will have something to think about the future, because she knows in the early days of a singer, one is so busy that she does not have time to think about the future.
The artist will conclude on the fact that, indeed, when she was younger, she was pretty and radiant. With time and experience she has matured and changed her vision on her music. She now wants people to concentrate on her songs, her music and not on her physique. Of course, she still hopes to be sexy, but the most important is her job.
LEE HYORI, now 38, is a splendid woman and an artist for whom music must come first.
