The beautiful AOA are back with their 5th mini-album, “BINGLE BANGLE“.
After 1 year and 5 months of absence, the group is back with 6 members: JI MIN, YU NA, HYE JEONG, MIN A, SEOL HYUN and CHAN MI.
This new mini-album consists of 6 tracks: the title track “Bingle Bangle“, “Super Duper“, “Heat“, “Ladi Dadi“, “파르페” and “뚜 뚜뚜“. The girls worked with composers from Sweden, Finland… such as Erik Nyholm, who has worked with SNSD, or David Amber who worked with Twice, Up10tion….
And here we go for the beginning of the showcase. First, the group presents a video in a very colorful retro atmosphere, with a video game music background.
For the first performance, AOA make us want to dance on the rhythm of their main title, “Bingle bangle” – a festive vibe on a funky and somewhat retro music that gives it all its charm – the choreography, consisting of large movements, reminds us of cheerleaders teams, while the girls are dressed in red and white outfits.
Then, the group introduce itself to the journalists present and goes straight on with a second performance on the title “Super duper“. The song begins with 3 members on stage, accompanied by backup dancers dressed in black, allowing to highlight the 3 girls. It is at the end of the first verse that the other 3 members come up on stage. Although less energetic than “Bingle Bangle“, this song is sexier and reveals more charm and attitude.
As usual, the 6 members of AOA are smiling and sparkling throughout this showcase.
Following these performances, the girls present their 5th mini-album and answer to the questions of the journalists.
For this new comeback, they really trained very hard, so much so that they had the impression to become trainees again. Be it already just to learn to master how to use rollers, as you can see in the MV. In addition, they did a lot of sport to give the image of girls in their twenties.
“Bingle bangle” is a song using a video game aesthetic. This gives the choreography some jerky sides that remind us of the character movements of old video games, very pixelated.
The girls admit that this title sticks a lot to MIN A who has a little more cute, energetic, fresh and innocent side, and to YU NA who, with her short and blond hair, makes them think of vitamin C and gives a sparkling side.
About the mini-album, JI MIN was the one to participate the most in the creations of the titles and fans will be happy to hear CHAN MI‘s voice even more than usual in the distribution of the lyrics.
The latter also participated in the creation of the choreography alongside HYE JEONG. And as for the main song, it draws a parallel between falling in love and the excitement heartbeat that one feels when playing video games.
As the lead vocalist, YU NA says that she trains and records until she is completely satisfied with what she is doing. And JI MIN tells us that everything is going well between the girls, that they are very happy together and that they do not pay attention to their age gap.
Then, the girls make a small return on their debuts and SEOL HYUN confesses that:
“At the beginning, when we were dancing, it was difficult to synchronize together and to be able to express our character. But now, it’s something we do quickly and naturally.”
And while AOA is one of the most popular and most active women’s groups on social networks, SEOL HYUN admits that:
“Even if I am the members with the most followers on Instagram, compared to other members, it gives me more responsibility and so, I have to pay more attention to my image.”
The group debuted 7 years ago. And as the members gained experience and maturity, they do not consider themselves as an old group at all, on the contrary. The girls actually advise us, whether it is for the maint title or the entire mini-album – with its fresh, light and enthusiastic sounds – to listen to it while we play sports or while driving, to put us in a good mood and give us energy.
