BOYS REPUBLIC of Universal Music agency gave us an interview to start their indefinite break.
Before discovering the interview a little reminder about BOYS REPUBLIC. The group consists of 5 members ONE JUNN, SUNGJUN, SUNWOO, MINSU and SUWOONG and debuted in June 2013 with the title “Party rock“.
The boys will release several titles and MV during these 5 years, such as “The real one“, “You are special” “Get down“, “Video game“, “Hello“, “Dress up” and almost all of their MV will easily exceed one million views. Each of them showing the boys in a new light, with a new concept, thus never tiring the fans.
The 5 boys will also make a career in Japan where they found a very good public. Yet with all this it’s difficult for them to get a real place. This will not prevent them from doing a European tour during which KSTATION TV met them.
We will see later that the boys will try the adventure of THE UNIT showing that despite their hard work, the public is always shy with them. Yet on the show SUWOONG and SUNGJUN will go far in the adventure and will gain the support of many fans.
But last month despite activities in musicals, theater … The group announces that on September 30th, 2018, it will be put on indefinite break. That day BOYS REPUBLIC organize a last meeting with their fans in Seoul, an intense moment in emotions.
For all those who couldn’t attend, KSTATION TV wanted to ask some questions to the members of the group.
Can you tell us how was this meeting? The atmosphere…?
MINSU 민수 : Since we had known this album would be our last, not only did we put lots of effort into this album, but there were lots of fierce debate as to how to do this, which delayed the release. We have had a number of meetings in order to present our best, and thus I am happy with the album..
ONE JUNN 원준 : Since the fan meeting was a moment of remembrance, many fans felt sad and sorry. I had wished we could say good-bye with a smile, but all of the fans were crying and sobbing, so it was heart-breaking.
SUNWOO 선우 : There were lachrymose moments, but it ended happily at the end.
SUNGJUN 성준 : Knowing it would be our last time, I felt really sad.
SUWOONG 수웅 : I felt sad to know that I couldn’t be with my members any longer. However, I felt grateful for the fans who attended the fan meeting.
A fifth single with a lot of sense and emotion, words “You’re my star, You’re the only one star”, can you tell us about this title, its meaning?
MINSU 민수 : It is a word of appreciation for all the fans who have awaited us.
ONE JUNN 원준 : It means that Royal Family (our fans) have always been a star to us (Boys Republic). Although our fans always call us their stars, in fact they are “only one star”.
SUNWOO 선우 : This song is special because ONE JUNN 원준 compose it. The lyrics contain our gratitude for all the love from our fans and the members.
SUNGJUN 성준 : This song is about the fans who have been shining above us.
SUWOONG 수웅 : We put our appreciation in the song.
On all the titles of BOYS REPUBLIC what is the one you prefer and why?
MINSU 민수 : I’d pick “The real one 진짜가 나타났다“. It was the most memorable song because we could show our sexy aspects.
ONE JUNN 원준 : For me, the last album, 별(you’re my star), is what is near and dear to my heart since it contains our whole hearts.
SUNWOO 선우 : “Hello” is my favorite because it goes with every mood and situation.
SUNGJUN 성준 : “별” has taken my heart since it is our last album.
SUWOONG 수웅 : “별” is something I won’t ever forget because it is dedicated to our fans.
Indeed, now the band is on a break, but individually do you already have projects: Musical, theater … (Military service soon ?)
MINSU 민수 : As the schedule is over, I’m planning to enlist in mid-October. I will be concentrating on military duty for now.
ONE JUNN 원준 : I’m planning to continue my music career. Maybe I will try some other entertainment careers such as acting, but I haven’t figured things out yet.
SUNWOO 선우 : I’m doing the theater right now. After that, I may join the army.
SUNGJUN 성준 : I will be making a new, small team to continue my music career.
SUWOONG 수웅 : I’m planning on doing musicals and the like. Please look forward to us.
It’s been 5 years since you made your debut, if you look back over your entire career what moment did you prefer?
MINSU 민수 : The “The End.. and” concert was the most memorable and I won’t be able to forget. I will keep that last memory with fans forever.
ONE JUNN 원준 : I’ve enjoyed every moment on stage singing and dancing and especially communicating with fans.
SUNWOO 선우 : I will always remember the moment of our debut. It was the moment that I realized my dream which I had dreamt for seven years.
SUNGJUN 성준 : I really enjoyed when we filmed “리얼리티” for the fist time. I managed to get used to being stared at by all the cameras, and also the sense of debuting really homed in on me.
SUWOONG 수웅 : The last fan meeting is the most memorable. This is also our first concert in Korea.
You traveled, did concerts in different countries and so met a lot of fans. What is the most amazing thing (for you) that a fan is made?
MINSU 민수 : Birthday parties! There was an event where we could celebrate our fans’ birthdays. We had only received congratulations from our fans, but we could return that to our fans. So it is something I won’t forget.
ONE JUNN 원준 : Every country is all vivid in my memory, but Malaysia, where we shot the L.I.U music video, occurs to me now. Although it could be awkward for them, fans and bodyguards all participating in shooting the video with smiles. I really appreciate that.
SUNWOO 선우 : Every moment with our fans is memorable, but I want to choose the fried chicken event that we do for the first time with our fans.
SUNGJUN 성준 : One time we did a CD delivery event, and it was the most memorable event for me.
SUWOONG 수웅 : In the last fan meeting, there was an event called “소년공화국이 소년공화국에게(from Boys Republic to Boys Republic)”, where read letters to each other and an event we all watched video letters. These two events are something I can hardly forget for a long time. .
If you had to say one last word to the fans who could not attend this last meeting, what would it be?
MINSU 민수 : Please take a listen to “you’re my star” and watch the music video! These are our tokens of appreciation for you.
ONE JUNN 원준 : I heard so many times that they (fans) are sorry because they couldn’t make it. I want to say that they really don’t need to feel sorry at all. It was us who should feel sorry for not being able to keep entertaining them with more music. However, since we’ll all be restart our careers with new colors, I hope they will still love us like now. I am deeply indebted for all the love and support coming from our fans. Thank you! ^^
