CL officially broke away from YG Entertainment, with whom she had been for over ten years.
This afternoon, YG Entertainment announced the end of its exclusive deal with CL in an official press release.
“We and CL have agreed to end the contract that binds us, and we express our deep gratitude to the fans who loved CL, who worked as a member of YG Entertainment,” the agency said.
CL debuted as a member of 2NE1 in 2009, in the position of leader. 2NE1 has become a group of sexy and energetic girls representing Korea and has left many hit songs such as “Fire“, “I Don’t Care” and “I’m the Best“.
Even after the dissolution of 2NE1, CL‘s activities continued. From her solo “나쁜 기집애” in 2013, she managed to become and became a solo singer. In addition CL also enters the American market. In 2016, she will become the first Korean female artist to join Billboard Hot 100.
However, there have been rumors of a split between CL and YG Entertainment in recent years as their domestic activities have slowed down. When Yang Hyun-suk left a message on social networks to bring back his artist, CL left a comment saying:
