APINK: A very happy birthday to PARK CHORONG
PARK CHORONG, leader, rapper and secondary singer of girl group APINK, turns 30 today.
PARK CHORONG was born on March 3rd, 1991 in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. She has a big and little sister. Her father is a master and owner of a hapkido academy, CHORONG practiced hapkido for eight years. She was trained from the first year of primary school to the third year of secondary school, she holds a 3rd degree black belt.
Prior to debuting in girl group APINK, PARK CHORONG starred in MBC Entertainment’s drama “All my love for you” as a supporting actress and which aired from November 8th, 2010 to September 16th, 2011 and also appeared in BEAST’s “Shock” clip. She received an audition offer from a casting director at CUBE Entertainment after attending an open audition for JYP Entertainment in 2009. In February 2011, she was the second announced member and leader of the group. Prior to their debut, CHORONG and the other members of APINK appeared on “APINK News“, a reality show that pre-dates the group’s debut but also continued for a little while after their debut.
CHORONG is mainly known for being a role model as a leader. When renewing the contract, CHORONG told the members “Trust me and follow me”, which caused a lot of talk about her and prompted other members to renew their contracts. A few years ago when NAMJOO and HAYOUNG were still going to school, CHORONG would get up earlier to prepare food for them during the day. Despite her shyness, CHORONG remains the mother with the big heart of the group. APINK means a lot to her, she listens to each member very much.
In addition to directing the other members of APINK very well, CHORONG also helped write lyrics for the band’s songs. The most famous songs of CHORONG are mainly the lyrics of songs for APINK fans, such as “April19th”, “The wave” and “Miracle“. However, CHORONG writes other songs which have appeared on several APINK albums such as: “So long”, “Wanna be“, “Deja vu“, “Eyes” and many more. Regarding future plans to write songs for other artists, CHORONG said it would be a huge honor for her.
Although she has less experience than some members of APINK, CHORONG has also ventured into the field of cinema. She took her first steps as an actress even before her official debut with APINK in 2011, making her the first member of APINK to debut as an actress. CHORONG appeared in “All my love for you” in 2010, “Reply 1997” in 2012, “Plus nine boys” in 2014 and “Special law romance” in 2017.
Other than “Shock“, CHORONG has also appeared in BTOB’s “Insane” mv and HUH GAK’s “Miss you” mv.
CHORONG is often confused with the youngest of her group OH HAYOUNG due to her appearance. CHORONG has a very calm and reserved personality. She prefers to wear casual outfits, rather than sophisticated and very homey outfits. Since the renewal of the contract she has been living alone with BOMI. She is BTOB’s Changsub’s best friend and is also very close to Solar (MAMAMOO), Hoya, ex-member of INFINITE and Jinyoung (B1A4). Her ideal type is a thin, manly boy, not too shy but not too frivolous either. She likes people who speak and act with respect.
