According to the legal community, HIMCHAN appealed the decision of the first trial through a legal representative on February 25th. The prosecution also appealed the next day, February 26th.

On the 24th of last month, the first trial of HIMCHAN, who was charged with forced sex, took place at the hearing of the 14th Criminal Regiment of Seoul Central District Court (Chief Justice Chung Sung Wan). The court ordered HIMCHAN to serve 10 months in prison and complete a 40-hour sexual violence treatment program.

HIMCHAN denied the charges, but the court explained the reason for the conviction, saying, “The victim impact statement is credible and supports the indictment. We considered that the accused’s crime was not not good and that it was not forgiven by the victim.

HIMCHAN was charged without detention in April 2019 for forcibly assaulting a woman in her twenties at a boarding house in Namyangju, Gyeonggi province, in July 2018. In addition, HIMCHAN was charged with state conduct of intoxication while accused of indecent assault, which sparked more controversy. At that time, HIMCHAN’s blood alcohol level was known to be at the level of the revocation of his license.

The trial is continuing to determine whether HIMCHAN’s appeal will be successful or not.

Currently HIMCHAN has stopped working in the entertainment industry.
