ONEWE: An interview on the new demo album

The group presents its demo album and answers a few questions.

ONEWE (Yonghoon, Kanghyun, Harin, Dongmyeong and Cya) released its second demo album “STUDIO WE: Recording #2” today.

In particular, the demo album contains a total of 12 tracks from various genres, including the title track “Star”, which was pre-released on the 23rd of last month, as well as all tracks from the first mini album “Planet Nine: Alter Ego “, and the special track “In course“, which was first performed in” STUDIO WE: LIVE #6 “.

– What do you think of the release of “STUDIO WE: Recording #2”?

YONG HOON – I’m very happy to be able to share the demo album after this long time. I wanted to be able to perform it since I started working on it, so I hope you like the demo version which has more sincerity.
KANG HYUN – I think it’s even more special because it’s an album that can show you how we do it through music. I think it will be an album where you can feel the excitement when you hear each song for the first time.
HARIN – We’re releasing our second demo album. I am proud to be able to show ONEWE’s passion for song to WEVE (band fans) and the public.
DONG MYEONG – I’m happy and excited to release an album that can seamlessly show the members’ working process.
CYA – As we show WEVEs the starting point of our first inspiration, the demo album is always new and exciting. Hope you will like it very much.

– Presentation of the album “STUDIO WE: Recording #2”.

DONG MYEONG – “STUDIO WE: Recording #2” is a demo album where you can see the process of the songs we have been working on so far. You can literally listen to raw skits and feel like we’re making music together!

– I think it’s an album that can be released because all ONEWE songs are self-composed. What is the highlight of the released album?

YONG HOON – As expected, it looks like the feel of the limbs is intact as these are self-composed songs. It may sound different from the original song, but I hope you can get the first feeling we wanted to convey.
KANG HYUN – Compared to the original, it will be fun to enjoy the feel of the demo version of the lyrics and arrangement.
HARIN – Thanks to the demo album, you will be able to experience, in a vivid way, ONEWE working on the music. When you listen to music, you can enjoy it a little more if you imagine the natural group work in your head.

– There are two versions of “AuRoRa”. What part should I focus on?

KANG HYUN “AuRoRa (191108_1)” is the first version of the song that I performed for members and employees. It’ll be fun to see the chorus part develop as it slowly builds up, and I think the rap part with my voice is the killer part.
“AuRoRa (191128_2)” is a more original version of the song. I think it would be fun if you could feel the lyrics and arrangement slightly different from the original.

– The subtitle “Logo” in the demo album is the First Live version. I know this was the first version released on “STUDIO WE: LIVE #1”, a performance that took place before the debut, what’s the difference with the original song on the mini album?

YONG HOON – “Logo” is a song that makes me think a lot. The demo version was written when I was trailed, so I decided to become a singer and become a proud logo for my fans, while the mini-album version aims to be singing for you, forever, without disappearing anywhere after becoming a singer.

CYA – All versions of the soundcloud can exude the charm of hip-hop-like sound, and the songs on the demo album are equipped with group sounds and city pop elements. The demo album version has robotic vocals and a groove that makes your shoulders shake more easily, just like the theme of the song. You can feel the digital charm of the original version of “A.I.“, and the demo and soundcloud versions can bring analog charm!

– “In Course”, qui est un morceau spécial, est le premier morceau sorti lors de STUDIO WE : LIVE #6. Comment cette chanson est-elle sortie et sur quelle partie voulez-vous que nous nous concentrions ?

KANG HYUN – Actually, when I rehearsed in the concert hall, I accidentally had a good idea while playing guitar, so I immediately recorded it on my cell phone. It’s a song that was made like that. Maybe because it was ONEWE’s first performance, I wanted to use that strong feeling. I recommend that you imagine our performances and listen to “In course“.
HARIN – We publish songs containing our brilliant performances. I’ve always wanted to release instrumental tracks, and I’m proud to show it with this opportunity. I hope that the people who listen to this song feel the aspirations of our instruments.
CYA – We made our own song to show WEVE a new side of us, but WEVE loved it more than we thought, so we put it on this demo album without hesitation. I think it would be good to focus on the ambience and the solo of the instruments!

– Recommendations and reasons for this demo album.

YONG HOON – The recommended song for this demo album is “In course“, a song played with members’ instruments, which is being released for the first time. It’s also my first performance, so I think a lot of fans will like it.
KANG HYUN – I recommend “Cosmos”. Unlike the original song, the proportion of acoustic guitar has been arranged and enlarged, but this sound is actually warm enough to feel it better than the original song. Hope you focus on it and listen to it.
HARIN – I recommend “AuRoRa”! Both versions are appealing, and I listened to it while watching my friend’s work next door, and it was a really cool song. I think the WEVE and the audience listening to this song can sense KANG HYUN‘s inspiration for the composition and the basis of his work.
DONG MYEONG – There are two versions of “AuRoRa”, so I think it would be good to compare what kind of developments have been made in these.
CYA -All songs are good, but I also recommend “In course“! It is also a new challenge for ONEWE and I highly recommend it because the sound and quality are very good.

– You announced the release of your 2nd mini-album in January. Can you spoil it?

HARIN – The mini album, which will be released in January, consists of songs that give you a more detailed feel of the original colors. And you will be able to feel the color of each limb more clearly, so look forward to it!
DONG MYEONG – I think I can show you a new side of myself that I have never shown with this second mini album. Please look forward to it!

– A final word for the WEVE.

YONG HOON – Hope this album will be like a warm gift for WEVE during the cold winter. And I always say that the reason ONEWE can be ONEWE is because WEVE exists, and thank you for letting ONEWE exist. Thank you forever and I love you.
KANG HYUN – You know demo albums are always fun to listen to compared to the original, right? I hope the WEVE will listen to it a lot.
HARIN – The demo album for WEVE is filled with songs where you can feel the raw feeling of ONEWE. It would be nice to experience ONEWE’s music in more detail again while listening to it. As much as you have always been looking forward to, we will show you alot of cool and expansive music, so please show us alot of love!
