TXT: A magical concert in Yokohama

On April 25 and 26, TOMORROW X TOGETHER held two sold-out concerts at Yokohama Arena, Kanagawa Prefecture, for its « TOMORROW X TOGETHER WORLD TOUR＜ACT: SWEET MIRAGE＞IN JAPAN ».

After holding four sold-out dates last year in Osaka and Chiba for the « TOMORROW X TOGETHER WORLD TOUR＜ACT: LOVE SICK＞IN JAPAN », TOMORROW X TOGETHER came back to Japan with a concert and performances worthy of a fairy tale. KSTATION TV was at the Yokohama concert on April 25 and takes you to discover this « Sweet Mirage » offered by TOMORROW X TOGETHER. 

The concert starts with the first VCR and chapter called « The Hero Journey ». The latter takes up the narrative framework of « The Star Seekers » webtoon. In this first VCR, we find the group’s five members (SOOBIN, YEONJUN, BEOMGYU, TAEHYUN, HUENING KAI) in a royal concept, each discovering their power little by little. Thus, after this first VCR, the concert begins with the sound of a bell, which draws the public’s attention. We discover, with fairy tale music, the group’s entry, which begins with « 5時53分の空で見つけた君と僕 (Blue hour) ». A splendid performance that quickly gives us the atmosphere of this first chapter. The group continues with « Can’t we just leave the monster alone? » before introducing itself in Japanese and sharing the joy of being present in Yokohama this evening.

The group continues with « Drama (jp ver.) », « No rules » and « Cat and dog » in a carefree and joyful atmosphere that this first chapter embodies. Afterwards, the group chatted with the fans in the concert hall and shared a moment of complicity using the Moabong, the group’s official lightstick. Each member involved the fans by encouraging them to reproduce their gestures with their lightstick. The group continues with « 9と4分の3番線で君を待つ (Run away) », which concludes with a solo performance by HUENING KAI. A remarkable solo reminiscent of Peter Pan’s tale, particularly by its intensely elaborate scenography. Finally, to complete this first chapter, the group finished with « We lost the summer » and « Can’t you see me?  (jp ver.) », announcing at the same time a darker chapter.

A second chapter, named « Sweet Mirage », presents, in particular, the titles of the series « THE CHAOS CHAPTER » and « MINISODE 2: THURDAY’S CHILD ». Thus, in this VCR, the group’s members learn to control their newfound power before a portal opens on a mysterious character intriguing SOOBIN. After this, we discovered a new scenery with « 0X1=Lovesong (I know I love you) (jp ver.) », which will remain one of our favourite performances for the vocal power of the group’s members and the stage accompanying this title. The group then continues with « Lo$er=Lover », « Dear sputnik » and « Magic », showing different facets: romantic, tragic or even joyful.

This second chapter continues with a new VCR, which this time presents a much darker future for the group. The joyful and golden room where the members were faces an intruder, a dragon, separating the members one by one in a dark world and plagued by a tragic fate. A darker atmosphere then sets in with a duo performance, TAEHYUN with HUENING KAI and SOOBIN with BEOMGYU, and a solo for YEONJUN to introduce « Opening sequence ». A performance that marked us for its choreography and the power of the emotions transmitted by the members. Indeed, the intro performance shows the members mirror dancing and trying at all costs to not be separated. Chapter 2 closes with « Anti-romantic » and « Eternally » which perfectly illustrate the dark atmosphere of this chapter. In particular, « Eternally » and its changing musicality. Indeed, the song changes very quickly from a soft ballad to a rock atmosphere. This last song used significant and successful light and camera works to show the two opposing worlds of « Eternally ». Thus, the concert hall quickly changed from a blue and peaceful set to a red and chaotic set delivering a magical spectacle.

The third chapter, named « The doom’s shadow », opens with a new VCR. On this latter, the group realises it cannot escape its destiny and must face this chaotic future. Thus, with a mix of the albums « MINISODE 2: THURDAY’S CHILD » and « THE NAME CHAPTER: TEMPTATION », the group presents a new darker identity ready to face this new world. We then discover « Good boy gone bad (jp ver.) », « Tinnitus » and « Devil by the window » which show a world getting darker and darker. 

Another VCR showed YEONJUN frightened by the tragic fate facing them and wished to return like before. In a happier atmosphere reminiscent of the good times before the chaos, the group performs « Angel or devil (jp ver.) » and « Ice cream » before taking a moment to chat with fans again. During this interlude, the group, especially YEONJUN teaches « Happy fool » choreography to the public before choosing some of them to dance in front of the cameras and under the attentive eyes of the group’s members. A warm and friendly moment between MOAs (fandom name) and TOMORROW X TOGETHER. Finally, the chapter ends with the group’s latest song, « Sugar rush » sung in chorus with fans. Following this title, the group warmly thanks fans for their presence this evening and promises to return quickly to the archipelago and Yokohama.

The final chapter, called « Recollecting a dream », opens with a new VCR after fans chant to call the group back on stage. In the latter, the group’s members, separated in the previous VCR, seek to reunite. They wonder if all this is only a dream or a future they will soon have to face. Following this VCR, the group came back with « Farewell, neverland » in a refined scenography, reminiscent of the opening of the music video of « Sugar rush » where the group seems to be stranded in a still unknown place. A remarkable performance for this concert’s end marked by the group’s members’ vocal prowess and their performers’ talents.

A final VCR is presented to the fans concluding the group’s story and announcing a new title: « Blue summer ». Premiered at the Seoul concert, « Blue summer » is a ballad highlighting the bond between MOAs and TOMORROW X TOGETHER in a sweet and pleasant atmosphere. Finally, the show ends with « Our summer », where MOAs and TOMORROW X TOGETHER sing in harmony, closing perfectly this evening before members thank its fans for their presence and undeniable support one last time.

Finally, this concert was worthy of the announced promises: an original story and a complete immersion through perfectly worked scenographies, striking light and camera effects and an unforgettable vocal and artistic performance from the group’s members. A concert and a performance that deserves to see the light of day in Europe!

TOMORROW X TOGETHER will conclude its Japanese tour on April 29 and 30 at the Port Messe Nagoya Exhibition Hall in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture.
