There were reports that Asians were discriminated against in the Paris concert hall during “M Countdown.”

Recently, Mnet’s music program “M Countdown” took place at La Défense Arena in Paris, France. A number of singers, including ATEEZ, DREAMCATCHER, Els Up, KTIGERS, NCT DREAM, PSY, SHOWNU X HYUNGWON, TAEMIN, TREASURE and ZEROBASEONE, were in attendance.
However, since then, allegations of racism have been made in various social media and online communities, sparking controversy. Local security officers intentionally overwhelmed the Asian audience. In particular, it was argued that the inspection of cameras, which are prohibited items, only applied to Asians.
An Mnet official told iMBC Entertainment, “The venue itself shouldn’t have a camera,” adding, “We’re trying to find out exactly whether there was racial discrimination and whether it was heavily restricted.“
A controversy, which if it proves correct after investigation should have an impact on the arrival of different festivals and concerts for Korean artists.
