SHOWNU X HYUNGWON of boy group MONSTA X reinterprets “I hate you” by 2PM.
According to its agency Starship Entertainment, SHOWNU X HYUNGWON will release a cover of 2PM’s “I hate you” via Spotify’s exclusive program “Spotify Singles”, the world’s largest audio and sound streaming platform.
SHOWNU X HYUNGWON participated in Spotify Singles, which is part of a campaign to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the launch of Spotify’s flagship K-Pop playlist “K-Pop ON!” with 2PM’s hit “I hate you” released in 2009. This participation took place before HYUNGWON, who serves, joined the army.
SHOWNU X HYUNGWON‘s “I hate you” is the second of three remakes of senior artists’ songs on Spotify that made them interested in K-pop under the theme “My First K-Pop Crush“, creating an atmosphere different from the original by mixing a dreamy electric piano sound and heavy bass with the UK Garage beat. Additionally, both members’ appealing vocals are combined with R&B-style arrangements to give a smooth sensibility.
Along with the music release, interviews and behind-the-scenes videos will be released via Spotify “K-Pop ON!” video podcast channel and official YouTube channel, as well as the performance video of “I hate you“, which is reborn in the form of SHOWNU X HYUNGWON‘s own color.
SHOWNU X HYUNGWON, who formed the unit eight years after debuting in July last year, attracted the attention of fans around the world by presenting a unique concept differentiated from MONSTA X‘s activities.
HYUNGWON, who has always shown his abilities as a producer with songs from MONSTA X’s album as well as KIHYUN’s solo album and participating in external artists’ albums, also participated in the production of the song title “Love me a little” and the song “Roll with me” through his first mini-album “THE UNSEEN“, once again proving his limitless musicality, and SHOWNU, which showed the standard of “Trust, Listen and Watch Performance” as the lead dancer of the group, participated in the choreography, direction of the title song and further expanded his scope.
The two members, who showed their own strong musical universe as well as their perfect visual combination with extraordinary physicality, carried out their activities by exuding unprecedented synergy through the formation of the unit. Currently, HYUNGWON is serving in the military and SHOWNU meets fans through various activities.
SHOWNU X HYUNGWON‘s “I hate you” will be released on “Spotify Singles” at 1 p.m. KST on February 29, and SHOWNU will appear as Anatole in the musical “Great Comet“, which debuts on March 26.
