POW reinterprets Billboard’s #1 song.

On October 8, POW (Jungbin, Yorch, Hyunbin, Dongyeon, and Hong) revealed the name of its second EP album and the title track on its official SNS, signaling the five boys’ love confession.
According to the released title poster, the second EP album “BOYFRIEND” will include the title track “Boyfriend” of the same name. “Boyfriend” is a remake of Avril Lavigne’s hit song “Girlfriend” released in 2007, and you can see the powerful energy of the original song and POW’s sweet and fresh sensibility.
“Girlfriend” is a teen pop song that depicts a girl trying to get a guy who already has a girlfriend, and reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart at the time of its release. The music video was highly praised worldwide, reaching 100 million views for the first time on YouTube and setting a Guinness World Record. Avril Lavigne is considered a top teen pop star in the 2000s thanks to her tomboyish rocker image. POW picks up Avril Lavigne’s torch, suggesting a new direction for teen pop.
POW, who left a pure and transparent declaration of love through her previous work “Valentine”, transforms into a fiery boy in her second EP album, exuding a more colorful charm to become the only “boyfriend” for global fans. They are expected to perform music that everyone can enjoy by adding a unique, powerful and refreshing atmosphere while maintaining the feeling of the original song.
POW plans to woo fans around the world with a simple yet trendy MZ vibe. As the title poster shows confidence in becoming a “boyfriend” with a chic aura, their strong confession is expected.
