The group MONSTA X showed a warm charm and strong presence as exemplary senior idols.

SHOWNU, KIHYUN, and HYUNGWON, members of MONSTA X, appeared as top-tier idols on the large-scale global boy group audition program “B:MY BOYZ”, which aired on SBS on July 12. They served as judges for the second round, which focused on iconic song performances.
Introduced as leading K-pop idols at the forefront of the global wave, MONSTA X attentively watched and evaluated the performances of the contestants, known as B:GINNERs (beginners). As the original performers of the songs chosen for this round, they offered kind advice and constructive criticism, delivering a true “mentor moment.”
Team MyMonstarz chose the song “Love killa,” while team MonstaB selected “Shoot out.” Before the main performances, KIHYUN told HYUNGWON,
“B:GINNER Bandaniel kind of reminds me of you,”which drew positive reactions. Meanwhile, SHOWNU expressed interest by saying, “B:GINNER Haruto has a cute image, so I’m curious to see how he’ll handle a sexy concept.”
KIHYUN advised the “Love Killa” team to focus on composure and control, while encouraging the “Shoot out” team to highlight their power, showing great attention to detail.
After the performances, HYUNGWON praised the participants, saying,
“They expressed the mood so well that you forget how young they are.” KIHYUN also complimented the two teams’ center performers, Lee Yeontae and Moon Jaeil, stating, “I couldn’t take my eyes off them,” highlighting their strong stage presence.
Their honest feedback also pointed out areas for improvement:
“The ‘Love killa’ team seemed a bit tense, which affected their energy,” and “‘Shoot out’ is a really difficult song. Toward the end, the vocals and choreography lost some stability.” They encouraged the B:GINNERs to work on these points for future stages.
That same day, the “Vocal Match” stage by team MyMonstarz was also aired. The B:GINNERs performed BTS’s “Spring Day” as a ballad-style fan song. KIHYUN commented,
“They sounded like professional singers. I was impressed by the smooth and precise falsetto.” HYUNGWON praised Park Sechan’s voice, saying, “I really love pop, and I’d genuinely like to work with him one day. He has an amazing voice.”
The B:GINNERs responded with gratitude:
“It’s an honor to receive compliments from MONSTA X seniors,” spreading a heartwarming vibe on set.
As the top idols for the second round of “B:MY BOYZ,” MONSTA X will continue judging the “Vocal Match” stage from team MonstaB, as well as the “Mega Performance Match” where both teams will compete. This final performance will feature MONSTA X’s debut song, “Trespass,” heightening anticipation for what’s to come.
MONSTA X, who celebrated its 10th anniversary on May 14, remains active in various fields including music, television, and festivals. On their anniversary day, they released a full digital album titled “NOW PROJECT vol.1” and held a free pop-up exhibition as a gesture of appreciation toward their fans.
In addition, MONSTA X will host a full-group anniversary concert titled “2025 MONSTA X CONNECT X” from July 18 to 20 at KSPO DOME (formerly Olympic Gymnastics Arena) in the Songpa district of Seoul, to share a meaningful time with its fans.
