The film “Back! Stage”, directed by Bang Sung-joon, captures the fiery energy of youth through music and is set to premiere exclusively in CGV theaters across South Korea on August 18. A teaser poster was unveiled on July 28.

“Back! Stage” is a story about music, youth, and personal growth. It follows Giseok, who receives a last-minute request to take the stage as lead vocalist for the very band that cast him out two years earlier. The narrative unfolds as he heads backstage, stepping into an emotional and unexpected journey.
The lead role of Giseok is played by YUNHO, a member of the group ATEEZ. He previously took on an acting role in the 2021 drama Imitation, where he portrayed Yujin, a member of an idol group. Drawing from his real-life experience as an artist, YUNHO is expected to deliver a performance that is both vibrant and authentic.
Joining Giseok on stage are band members portrayed by Bae Jaeyoung as bassist Myeong-oh, Lee Chan Woo as guitarist Yoo Won, and Kim Eun Ho as drummer Seong Hwan. With fresh faces and solid acting foundations, these actors are anticipated to bring youthful energy and realism to the screen. They are joined by acclaimed actress Lee Sang Hee, known for her consistently strong performances, and Lee Chang Min, a rising talent from the Korea National University of Arts, adding depth and immersion to the story.
The newly revealed teaser poster features Giseok seen from behind, holding a microphone high toward the audience. The “Back! Stage” logo is paired with images of the band members immersed in their performance, vividly conveying the passion of youth and the power of music. The accompanying phrase, “A stage that brings us together again, music that unites us”, hints at the emotional arc of the film and heightens anticipation.
“Back! Stage” is a true musical film, planned and produced entirely by the CJ ENM OST Content Business Team, which is behind numerous hit drama soundtracks including “Lovely runner“, “Yumi’s cells”, “Crash landing on you“, and “Goblin”. With this experienced team leading the project, the film promises both musical depth and widespread appeal. In addition, contributions from a seasoned production crew ensure a high level of cinematic quality.
The film is directed by Bang Sung Joon, a filmmaker recognized at both domestic and international film festivals for his short films “뒤로 걷기 (Walking backwards) (2020) and “그 언덕을 지나는 시간 (The time that passes that hill)” (2018).
Notably, “Back!Stage“ was shot entirely using the iPhone 16 Pro, introducing a new form of “snack movie” musical filmmaking. Thanks to the expertise of its production team, the film offers a short but densely packed viewing experience.
Finally, “Back! Stage“ will hit theaters exclusively at CGV on August 18. As a “real music cinema” that captures the raw authenticity of music and youth, it’s set to leave a powerful impression on audiences.
