Rapper JEONG SANG SU has issued an apology after making a political comment in support of former president Yoon Suk Yeol during a festival at CHOONGAM High School, the school attended by the former president.

“During a performance at the CHOONGAM High School festival on October 31, I made a political remark that should not have been made in such a setting,”
said JEONG SANG SU in a video posted on his Instagram account this Saturday. “I sincerely apologize to the principal, teachers, staff, and especially the students who were affected by my actions.”
He added: “I generally do not take a political stance, neither left nor right, and honestly, I am not very informed about politics.” He explained: “The name came up during an interview with a student on stage. I wanted to create a fun, playful moment, but I got carried away and ended up saying something I shouldn’t have.”
JEONG SANG SU continued: “It was entirely my fault. I am ready to take full responsibility and accept all criticism.”
In written apologies accompanying the video, he clarified: “I made an inappropriate political comment in public. This was not something I should have said in front of students who were just trying to enjoy their festival, and I offer my most sincere apologies for the disappointment I caused.”

He also emphasized that his comment was entirely personal and “had nothing to do with the school,” asking that criticism not be directed at the high school: “I now understand that no apology can cover what I did. Please direct all responsibility to me, not to the school.”
During the CHOONGAM High School festival on Friday, JEONG SANG SU called a student on stage and asked, “What is Choongam’s pride?” When the student answered, “Yoon Suk Yeol,” JEONG SANG SU said, “I remembered that too, but now I’ll say it,” before shouting “Yoon Again” twice. This expression is commonly used by supporters of the former president who oppose his impeachment or legal proceedings and wish for his return to power.
Following the video and ensuing controversy, the student council of CHOONGAM High School issued a statement clarifying: “The comment had no connection to the school or the Choongam festival. Neither the school nor the student council requested or approved this remark in advance. It was a personal comment by JEONG SANG SU,” asking the public not to criticize the school or its students.
JEONG SANG SU, born in 1984, began his music career with the single “TRUMAN SHOW” in 2009 and gained fame through multiple seasons of Mnet’s hip-hop competition “Show Me the Money” (2012–2022).
