The group CROSS GENE is making a comeback.
On February 24, a representative of SHIN WONHO of CROSS GENE stated: “We are discussing the group’s comeback this year.” He explained that member YONGSEOK will make an appearance as a guest at SHIN WONHO’s concert scheduled for March 27, thus launching the preparation for the comeback.
CROSS GENE is a six-member multinational group, originating from Korea, China, and Japan, debuting in 2012 and releasing tracks such as “La-Di Da-Di” and “Amazing-bad Lady”. The group attracted attention with the Korean SHIN (SHIN WONHO), also active as an actor, and the Japanese TERADA TAKUYA, known for appearances in shows such as “Non-Summit”. After releasing their Japanese digital single “CORVUS” in 2019, the group naturally disbanded following contract expirations and the departure of some members.
By uniting their intentions, SHIN WONHO and KIM YONGSEOK are bringing back CROSS GENE for a comeback after seven years. On February 23, SHIN WONHO posted a handwritten letter on Instagram: “I thought a lot before coming back under the name CROSS GENE. I was scared and wanted to run away, but YONGSEOK gave me courage with his letter. I don’t know yet what future awaits us, but I will try to take my courage with YONGSEOK.” He added: “During the break, I wanted to call the name CandY (fandom) engraved on my thigh. Thank you for staying by my side. The first step is to be on stage with me at my concert. Come see this new beginning. Come once again with us. I love you. I missed you.”
KIM YONGSEOK also announced his return to the agency AMUSE, specifying: “For a year, I auditioned and performed in musicals.” He continued: “While performing, I often thought about the time of CROSS GENE. I missed it. I thought a lot about CROSS GENE’s songs.” He revealed that he contacted SHIN WONHO first because “the extinguished flame in the depths of my heart was reignited. I wanted to see the fans again.”
KIM YONGSEOK expressed gratitude toward SHIN WONHO and the fans who supported CROSS GENE, stating: “CROSS GENE will start moving again.” He added: “We will show you our music, our stages, and our results. It has really been a long time since WONHO hyung and I got together to meet the fans,” announcing the March 27 concert.
Furthermore, before CROSS GENE’s comeback, SHIN WONHO will make his solo debut, 15 years after his debut, with the release of his first mini-album “ONE” on March 4.
