MUSICOW simultaneously released worldwide, on July 10 at 1 p.m. KST, the audio and music video for the new song “Distant lover” jointly produced by JIHYO of TWICE and Jamaican artist SHENSEEA.

This song is a project where JIHYO, a vocalist representing K-pop, and SHENSEEA, who is active in the dancehall and hip-hop scene and has been nominated twice for the Grammy Awards, collaborate for the first time. A unique synergy that breaks genre boundaries is expected from the meeting of these two artists with different musical backgrounds.
“Distant lover” is a rhythmic K-pop-based track that combines rap, dancehall, and afrobeat sounds. It targets global listeners by highlighting a cheerful energy suited for the summer vibe and an addictive melody.
The lyrics contain an emotional line with the theme of “situationship,” where it is difficult to clearly define the boundary between friends and lovers. The complex psychology of the moment one realizes that a relationship believed to be special was ultimately nothing at all is expressed through JIHYO’s delicate vocals and SHENSEEA’s personality-filled rap.
In particular, JIHYO’s soulful vocal timbre and SHENSEEA’s unique rhythmic flow blend naturally, raising high expectations for offering a different charm from existing K-pop collaborations.
MUSICOW also plans to sequentially present, after the release of the sound source, a physical album package including limited edition photo cards and posters. This project is part of the “fandom project” jointly conducted by the global entertainment company ROC NATION and MUSICOW.
An official from MUSICOW stated, “While expanding collaboration between global artists, we aim for a new type of music project where fans can experience the process of growth and achievements of music together” and “Beyond simple listening, we will create a new music ecosystem where fans can participate in the journey of a global music project.”
