The number of YouTube views for the music video of singer PSY‘s hit song “Gangnam style” has surpassed 6 billion.
According to the agency P NATION on July 20, the music video for “Gangnam style” exceeded 6 billion views on the afternoon of July 17.
“Gangnam style” is the title song of Part 1 of the 6th studio album “PSY 6RULES PART 1” released by PSY in July 2012. After its publication, it enjoyed immense popularity by rising to 2nd place on the main singles chart Hot 100 of the American Billboard for 7 consecutive weeks.
Previously, the music video for this song became the very first in YouTube history to exceed 1 billion views in December 2012. In December 2023, it crossed the milestone of 5 billion.
“Gangnam style” is the first K-pop music video to exceed 6 billion views on YouTube. Among music videos from around the world, it ranks 5th of all time, behind “Despacito” by LUIS FONSI which exceeded 9 billion views, and “See you again” by WIZ KHALIFA which exceeded 7 billion.
