NIK
The male group NIK from survival G-EGG debuts on Monday, September 27th during an online showcase on YouTube.

Made up of members GUNMIN, HYEONSU, FUMIYA, RYUTA, YUNSOL, TAEHOON, KOGUN, RYO, PARKHA, TAICHI and HINATA, this group may sound familiar to you. Indeed, some of these artists have already debuted in other groups; GUNMIN with B.I.G, HYEONSU in LC9, KOGUN within ZEST and LUCENTE, PARKHA also in LUCENTE, and HINATA with JUNON BOY. They made their debut under the stage name NIK with a single called “SANTA MONICA“. The group is made up of six Koreans and five Japanese, opening the showcase with the performance of their first title. This catchy track is accompanied by a clean and dynamic choreography highlighting the eleven members. Then the clip is played. Regarding the group name, it is actually an acronym:
- N : New, something that didn’t exist until now.
- I : Inspire, something stimulating people’s hearts.
- K : Kindle, something making us feel sentimental.
The boys take the stage to discuss this first single. They introduce themselves one after the other, before moving on to “Santa monica” which incorporates rhythms of rumba speaking of the dream of going to Santa Monica, in California, to spend his honeymoon there. Despite the palpable stress of some members, they just want to have fun on stage and have a good time, especially for the Japanese members who do not yet master Korean, particularly FUMIYA who prefers to express themselves in Japanese to convey his emotions. TAEHOON helps him by translating into Korean afterwards. What was most complicated for the members was the wait each time, between auditions, selections, and preparation for the debut, but especially the language. Despite everything, they have not let go, because they want to become a group that will follow in BTS’s footsteps.
“It’s been a year since we know about our debut, so we were looking forward to this day with the greatest anticipation.” – GUNMIN
The boys are in a daydream, and are all excited about this debut. They look back on the preparation of the single, and reveal to have been confronted with paranormal things, like an enclosure which suddenly fell and broke. So, some believe in ghosts. Regarding the second track of the single, “Universe”, it is more performance oriented, and the band can’t wait to be able to present it someday too. During the filming of “Santa Monica“, the members got closer to each other, the filming having been particularly rough for them. Even though they have known each other for two years, they are still getting to know each other, and the difficulties encountered in these beginnings have helped. Plus, they all tried to get involved, whether it was in the song or the choreography by attempting various things to see what would fit the song best.
NIK is very impatient to one day be able to perform in Korea and Japan, and to hold concerts once the health crisis has subsided. The singers have prepared for this day since their participation in the survival G-EGG where twenty-four trainees faced each other to debut. Even though the show created a lot of stress for the attendees, they are still grateful for the experience they were able to gain during filming. They then discuss dorm life, and HYEONSU states that the biggest difference between Korean and Japanese members is in the food, as the Japanese had to get used to the spicy food so that they could all eat together, wouldn’t be. – what ramyeons. They also discuss their models; SHINee and BTS. For now, their goal is to be able to hold a concert, and then they will see how to move forward. It is with these last words that the group concludes the showcase by thanking its fans who waited two years to see them begin. They say they will continue to work very hard not to disappoint anyone. They are eager to come and meet all the people supporting them, and while waiting for this time, they will prepare new performances to delight their fans.
