Earlier on January 2, EVERGLOW members bowed, saluting for the New Year at a fan signing event, but this sparked controversy as YIREN stood tall holding hands clasped and waving . This is called a Chinese greeting which means “be rich“.

In this regard, Chinese netizens praised WANG YIREN as a good example of a Chinese celebrity’s entry into Korea, saying, “The Chinese do not bow loudly.” However, Korean netizens replied, “We do not understand WANG YIREN, who works in Korea and does not accept Korean culture and insists only on Chinese culture.”

Since then, Chinese media have reported this, further fueling the conflict. The Chinese state-run media watch network said there were extreme demands among Korean netizens to expel Chinese idols.
