SEVENTEEN: A much-desired meeting with the fans

On this Sunday, March 27, the PLEDIS ENTERTAINMENT group SEVENTEEN is holding its “CARAT LAND” fan meeting, online and face-to-face in Seoul.

SEVENTEEN IN CARAT LAND – SEVENTEEN

Composed of members S.COUPS, WOOZI, HOSHI, JUN, THE8, SEUNGKWAN, WONWOO, MINGYU, VERNON, JEONGHAN, JOSHUA, DK and DINO, the group is happy to finally be able to meet their fans after long months of Covid. prevented. After performing “Shining diamond“, each of the members begins by introducing themselves with great enthusiasm, this fan meeting being the third, and last, this week. To make it symbolic, the pit sections bear the names S, V, T, and in accordance with health rules, the public is not allowed to shout or stand up. Thus, the fans are equipped with “clapper” to accompany, as they can, the members who ask them to clap in rhythm with them. It is even more special, as the group’s last online concert was held without members THE8 and JUN who were held in China for their solo activities. However, the two singers did not fail to call the rest of the members during the show to send them a message of support.

Then taking a stand, SEVENTEEN performs the song “Home;run” with energy and charisma. Dressed in white and black, the boys get along well and spread their good humor in the stadium, and behind the screens. After this performance, the members get together to participate in games, under the supervision of WOOZI, MC of the day. The singers then encourage him to be cute for the fans, and the lead vocalist performs doing aegyos. The first game begins: a knowledge quiz to win “lucky tickets“. To answer questions, members must first say “Woozi, I Woo U“, so that WOOZI questions them. The first question is: “What # is missing in the Love Letter clip when THE8 appears in an Instagram post?“. The boys smile at the difference in style and maturity between the THE8 of today, and that of five years ago. SEVENTEEN has no idea of the answer at first, giving improbable #s until SEUNGKWAN finds “#전복화폐 ”, meaning “the monetary value of abalones”. Next, a task is assigned: “While dancing, sing the entire song Going Seventeen”, which VERNON immediately succeeds. Nostalgic, the whole group decides to sing the song again together in a cappella.

Question 3: “Please choose a nickname that has not been assigned by members“, and the possible answers were “boo seungkwan temple“, “vernon essay contest“, “lee dokyoem simultaenity“, and “mun junhwi whistle whistle“. last being the good one, found by S.COUPS. Laughing, they then tease DINO who has the nickname Gilette because he only uses that brand of razor. This is followed by mission 4, that of completing a text written by the group’s fans using Korean abbreviations, for example “ 오수박짝 ” which, according to DINO, would mean “you worked hard today *applause*“, coming from “오늘도 수고했어요 박수 짝짝” when written in full. SEUNGKWAN discovers “ 화이팅하자 내솨랑들 ”, which means “ Fighting my loves”, but with a typographical error, directly repeating an old message written by MINGYU. Finally, question 5 arrives: “Recite the fanchants in reverse order on the song Getting closer“, based on the age of the members and their real name. HOSHI and JEONGHAN try and fail in third person, while SEUNGKWAN fights admirably and manages to name a tenth of names. HOSHI does not admit defeat and tries his luck again, but the result remains the same, quickly followed by MINGYU.

Attempting to complete the mission, the members stand up in the requested order, but S.COUPS, HOSHI, JEONGHAN still fail, as they either forget to quote each other or fail to keep up with the music. WOOZI helps them by telling them what to say, and DK tries to cheat by taking a sheet where the answer is written, but contrary to expectations, it fails. After more failures, SEUNGKWAN is finally voted the winner of the challenge, being the one who succeeded the longest. To show that it is possible, a recording of the fanchants is broadcast, but the group, teasingly, accuses the fans of having made mistakes, just like them. With the games segment closed, the group takes refuge backstage, while a video of them plays. We discover them as sound and light technicians, passing for once behind the camera. Online, more than five million people follow the fan meeting attentively, discussing in the live chat how fabulous they think the members of the group are.

« We carry on, and will continue to walk hand in hand » — WOOZI

Back on stage, with new outfits, SEVENTEEN performs the song “Run to you“. The rock genre of this title contrasts with the refined silk outfits of the singers. Between a few verses, the members shout to the fans for their love, then once the song is finished, they perform “Fallin’ flower” in Korean version — being originally Japanese —. To accompany this title, petal-like confetti falls from the top of the stage, emphasizing this beginning of spring. HOSHI expresses his joy at having been able to sing “Fallin’ flower” rather than a title song, these being already well known to fans. A new segment of the fan meeting then opens, dedicated to the group’s songs, presented this time by SEUNGKWAN. The group is divided into several teams, and the first mission is to find the “tracklist” of the album “LOVE&LETTER“. This album is not chosen at random, because it is the one that brought the first musical victory of the group. DINO is the one who succeeds in the exercise, having to sing verses from the song “Say yes” to confirm his victory.

Mission #2 is to find the “tracklist” of the album “YOU MADE MY DAY“, found by HOSHI. Then follows the team formation, the leaders being DINO and HOSHI as they found the “tracklists”, as well as THE8. DINO chooses as members WONWOO, MINGYU and VERNON, HOSHI chooses JEONGHAN, WOOZI and JOSHUA and the remaining members, S.COUPS, THE8, JUN and DK form the last team, SEUNGKWAN retaining his place as MC. The quiz is a points race, with each correct answer awarding twenty points to the team that finds it. Members should start by finding the title of songs and groups using only consonants. The first question is “ㅇㅋㅍㄹ”, HOSHI finding “Alcohol-free” from TWICE. To confirm the victory of his team, the four members must dance the song in question. WOOZI looks clearly lost, while HOSHI, JOSHUA and JEONGHAN gesticulate the same gestures perpetually. JEONGHAN shows them what the real choreography is, but the result is not more glorious.

Question two is “ㅇㄹㅂ”. S.COUPS finds IVE’s “Eleven”, but again the boys don’t know the choreography. DINO takes the opportunity to steal the victory from them, executing said choreography much more precisely. In three, “ ㅁㅍㅇ ㅇㄷㅁㄴ ”, immediately found by HOSHI to be ITZY’s “Mafia in the morning”. The members still not knowing the dance, they decide to play the “mafia”, a Korean game similar to the “werewolf”. SEUNGKWAN therefore decides to grant them the victory, for their ruse. The concept of the questions then changes, the group having to find what are the original words of a song after having been pronounced using a foreign accent. The songs in question this time are those of SEVENTEEN. The DINO team finds “Getting closer”, S.COUPS then finds “Good to me”, then DK with “Holiday”, and finally VERNON who has the right to assign penalties to members of his choice.

S.COUPS must then dance “ Rollercoster ” by CHUNGHA, WONWOODumb Dumb” by SUNMI who must do it again, as his first performance was not successful enough in the eyes of the other members, DK must dance “ Solo ” by JENNIE, the group then nicknamed him “ Donnie ” since he also tries to sing, in a sexy way. To close, MINGYU tries out YOOA’s “Bon voyage” by taking off his shoes and socks to best represent the “nature” concept of the song. The latter prepared more than the other members, as he also dances the first verse and the end of the song, jumping all over the stage. However, the situation turns around, the rest of the members decide to dance what they had prepared, to celebrate the last day of the fan meetings. SEUNGKWAN therefore presents “Spider” by HOSHI, VERNON sings “Weekend” by TAEYEON in a slender voice, DINO “Lalisa” by LISA — performing under the cries of the most cheerful of the other members —, and JUN “Crooked” by G- DRAGON, accompanied by the whole group.

After this dance session, the group leaves the stage again while a video is broadcast. We discover DINO, JOSHUA and SEUNGKWAN doing a parody of a TV show, quickly joined by THE8. All in disguise, this parody looks more like a blooper since the members are constantly laughing. DINO and THE8 perform a push-up contest, won by the younger of the two. JUN joins the group obsessed with opening windows and doors. Afterwards, MINGYU arrives, disguised as a cowboy on a horse as a social media star who must choose between two drinks, one being a coffee, the other having vinegar within it. It is the turn of WOOZI and JEONGHAN to introduce themselves as experts in negotiations. They engage SEUNGKWAN, DINO, and JOSHUA in a debate over smelly farts versus non-smelly farts. With the debate over, WONWOO arrives as a judge, looking for his future meal. He is offered pasta, which he wants to share with the duo of negotiation experts. Finally, S.COUPS presents itself as a genius of a lamp in search of an English name. The members give it the name lamborgénie.

Disguised, DK and HOSHI reappear as a dancing duo with extravagant outfits and quirky personalities. Thanks to the trios, they create a short song to end the video in a good mood, which allowed the group to change before performing the song “Ah! Love” in a dandy look, by DINO, VERNON and SEUNGKWAN sub-unit. A new team appears once this performance is over, made up of MINGYU, DK and THE8 singing “Light a flame” with Latin sounds. HOSHI, WONWOO, WOOZY and JUN replace them for a funkier style with “Hey buddy“. Finally, S.COUPS, JOSHUA, JEONGHAN conclude the songs in subunits with “Doremi”. The rest of SEVENTEEN joins them to end in a good-natured mood. The other teams interpret in a cappella the songs of the other sub-units so that everyone tries it. The members then reflect on the memorable moments of the evening, citing the segment where they danced to songs by other groups. However, they announce the end of the fan meeting, without forgetting to add that other fan meetings will be held in the future.

SEVENTEEN then performs “Rock with you“, then a new video is broadcast to announce the end of the evening. A thank you message is also broadcast on the screens to thank the fans for their loyalty, and their presence this evening, as well as to the group for their hard work. Said group returns to the stage for the encore and performs “Laughter”. It is with great emotion that each of the members sends a message to the fans, the staffs and the other boys, thanking everyone for their hard work and unwavering support to make these three days of fan meeting possible. Tears eventually flow, and they find it difficult to express their feelings. They nevertheless do their least, sometimes speaking in other languages to reach as many fans as possible.

Just before leaving definitively, the group asks to wait until April, sounding the comeback of the group, and until the world tour of the group, in some time. They sing the song “Beautiful” in a cappella, before it starts for real, and continue with “아주 Nice“, while going around the stadium to get closer to their fans present. Unwilling to want to leave the stage, the chorus of “아주 Nice” plays over and over again, the confetti flying on stage, until the members’ final goodbyes.

The words of our reporter:4h30 of energy and good humor spent alongside these boys with their always endearing personalities! A treat!
