BLACKPINK: A significant magazine cover

South Korean girl group BLACKPINK made the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, a famous American music media.

Rolling Stone chose BLACKPINK as the cover model for the June issue, describing it as “Pop Supernova,” on May 23 (local time).

“BLACKPINK is one of the most popular artist groups Korea has produced“,

said Rolling Stone. “Their huge success is part of the Korean wave, which refers to the global popularity of the Korean cultural industry.“

“BLACKPINK’s music exudes explosive power. It’s both addictive and invigorating. It creates sparks by blending house and electronic dance music (EDM) with hip-hop beats.” the magazine said.

Although Rolling Stone has not confirmed this, an overseas entertainment outlet said BLACKPINK became the third girl group to grace Rolling Stone’s cover after Britain’s Spice Girls and USA’s Destiny’s Child. and is the first Asian girl group.

“BLACKPINK’s hip-hop is something the world has never seen before,” JENNIE told Rolling Stone. “Our hip-hop isn’t rebellious. But I think we make good music.“

“My mom and dad are proud of me, but I don’t feel like a world star,” JISOO said, adding, “My position may have changed, but I’m just (before) me.“
