JU HAK NYEON, former member of the K-pop group THE BOYZ, firmly denies allegations of prostitution involving former Japanese AV actress Asuka Kirara, and announces a fight for the truth against his agency.
On June 22, JU HAK NYEON published a lengthy statement to share his side of the controversy in detail.
In late May, a report claimed that JU HAK NYEON had met Japanese influencer and former adult film actress Asuka Kirara at a private bar in Tokyo. Following this, his agency One Hundred announced both his departure from THE BOYZ and the termination of his exclusive contract. In response, JU HAK NYEON issued a handwritten letter stating: “There was absolutely no prostitution.” He added: “The agency told me to leave, but I never agreed to it. Yet they informed the media that the contract was terminated. That is completely false.”
In his statement, JU HAK NYEON explained:
“Before the agency even received a formal inquiry from Shūkan Bunshun magazine, I heard that photos had been taken. I immediately told the agency exactly what had happened and asked for help. I admitted where I was at fault and tried to make choices that would minimize the damage to the other members.”
He continued:
“After I paused my activities, the agency suddenly demanded I sign a termination agreement that required me to pay more than 2 billion won (approximately 1.3 million euros)—a penalty not stated anywhere in the contract. They refused any negotiation. When I didn’t sign the agreement, the agency released an official statement the very next day announcing my departure. This was even before the Shūkan Bunshun article came out. Soon after, articles claiming I met an AV actress—and later, that I engaged in prostitution—began to surface. In a single day, I was turned into a sex offender in the eyes of the public.”
JU HAK NYEON emphasized:
“Everything felt premeditated. It seemed like someone was creating a justification for my termination. I was terrified of being labeled a sex offender for life. All of this happened in just two days.”
He then expressed his regrets to fans:
“I’m deeply sorry for my careless actions, especially as someone who was supported by so many fans as an idol. I sincerely repent and will carry this regret in my heart for the rest of my life.”
Emotionally, he added:
“But overnight, I was accused of a sex crime without knowing why, and for the first time, I felt like I wanted to die. It felt like everyone was staring and pointing fingers at me. I couldn’t stop crying thinking about my mother, my family, and the fans who have always supported me.”
He concluded:
“If I give up on life without revealing the truth, I’ll be remembered forever as a sex offender. More importantly, if I stay silent out of fear, this false accusation won’t end with me. My family, friends, and fans will have to live under the label of ‘a sex offender’s family’ or ‘someone who supported a sex offender.’ Even though it’s overwhelming and terrifying to fight a big company as an individual, I’m determined to endure it all—for the people who still care about me and believe in me.”
