Mnet denies any favoritism toward a CJ ENM subsidiary in “Boys 2 Planet.“

The production team of “Boys 2 Planet” on Mnet has denied suspicions of favoritism toward a subsidiary of CJ ENM.
On July 16, during the press conference for “Boys 2 Planet” held at The Saint in Guro, Seoul, KIM SHIN YOUNG, Chief Producer (CP), stated:
“Favoring Wake One would do more harm than good.”
Known for launching K-pop groups through global audition shows such as I.O.I, WANNA ONE, and IZ*ONE, Mnet has solidified its reputation as a “powerhouse of auditions” by also producing KEP1ER and ZEROBASEONE through “Girls Planet” and “Boys Planet.”
Staying true to its legacy as a pioneer in survival shows, Mnet once again aims to launch global stars. This season, titled “K-pop World Scale Debut Project,” promises an unprecedented scale and structure, raising expectations among international fans. The show will follow boys from two separate “planets”, K-Planet and C-Planet, who will come together and journey toward the sun.
However, concerns have been raised about potential favoritism toward Wake One, a CJ ENM subsidiary, and questions about the program’s transparency. In response, KIM SHIN YOUNG said:
“It’s true that Wake One is a subsidiary, but many people are involved in this project. Viewers can sense these things, which is why we have no intention of forcing a narrative or artificially highlighting certain talents. That kind of approach causes more loss than gain. Since the ‘Planet’ series is expected to continue, we won’t choose that path.”
“Boys 2 Planet” will air its first two episodes on Mnet at 9:20 PM KST:
-
July 17: “Boys 2 Planet K”
-
July 18: “Boys 2 Planet C”
