Singer YVES is transforming into a cat.
On July 21, YVES released the teaser for the music video of “White cat“, the pre-release track from her upcoming third EP album, “SOFT ERROR”, via her official YouTube channel.
The video opens with a pink bubblegum bubble stuck in the center of the screen, then quickly shifts to a series of objects like a scarf and ballet pointe shoes. We also see YVES being chased by a mysterious group, and later getting swept up in the rhythm of the music. These scenes suggest a cat-like persona and stir anticipation for the full video.
“White cat“ tells the story of a self that appears perfect on the outside, but, like a stray cat, wanders without emotional direction, trapped in an identity shaped to be loved. YVES’s enchanting and distinctive voice blends with dreamy synth sounds to convey a sense of “calm confusion.”
“SOFT ERROR,” her third EP album, marks her return approximately seven months after the release of “I Did: Bloom,” the deluxe version of her second EP. The term “soft error” refers to a state that appears normal on the surface but is malfunctioning underneath. The album is expected to delve into deeper stories, filled with the emotional dissonance that defines YVES’s artistry.
Through her first two EPs, “LOOP” and “I DID,” YVES has built a unique musical world grounded in strong concepts and a highly personal sound aesthetic. In particular, “DIM,” a track from “I DID,“ topped the U.S. Viral 50 chart for two consecutive weeks, cementing YVES’s status as a global artist. This momentum is fueling high expectations for “SOFT ERROR.”
YVES’s third EP album, “SOFT ERROR,” will be released on August 7 at 12 p.m. KST on all music platforms. Ahead of that, the song “White cat” will be pre-released on July 24 at 12 p.m. KST.
