YES24 still cannot resolve its prolonged connection issues.
As of August 11 at 10 a.m., both the official YES24 website and its official app remain inaccessible. According to many users, the server has been down for over three hours since around 7 a.m. that morning.
When attempting to access the official YES24 website from a PC, an error message appears: “Hmm… Cannot connect to this page. ticket.yes24.com took too long to respond. Try the following.”
This is the second prolonged outage YES24 has experienced this year. Previously, around 4 a.m. on June 9, a complete failure of YES24’s services (books, tickets, eBooks, digital library, etc.) caused massive inconvenience for users. The cause of that incident was identified as a ransomware-induced failure.
YES24 CEOs Kim Seok Hwan and Choi Sera, who resolved the crisis about a week later, stated on June 16:
“On June 9, YES24 suffered an external ransomware attack that paralyzed the entire company’s systems, resulting in service interruptions. This caused serious inconvenience and anxiety to our customers in their valuable daily activities such as ordering books, viewing eBooks, or booking shows. YES24 deeply feels the weight of this inconvenience more than anyone else. We sincerely apologize to all customers and partners affected by this incident.”
Regarding the circumstances of the incident, they explained:
“This incident is a system failure caused by an external ransomware attack. YES24, as a responsible platform operator, is putting all its efforts into service restoration and security inspections. Immediately after the attack, YES24 prioritized internal analysis and recovery, while closely cooperating with relevant government agencies in the investigation.”
YES24 proposed compensation measures to customers, but these were heavily criticized as insufficient considering the damage suffered.
Meanwhile, YES24 plans to hold the general ticket sale for DAY6’s 10th anniversary solo concert, “The Decade,” on August 11 at 8 p.m. During the fan club pre-sale on August 8, many users faced issues such as proxy errors and pop-up blocking, preventing successful ticket purchases. In light of the ongoing YES24 connection issues, attention now turns to whether the general sale will proceed smoothly.
